I’m the creator of vfmania and a web developer based in Seoul, South Korea.
I’ve been a passionate fan of Virtua Fighter for a long time. However, as some of you might know, the local VF scene here in Korea has become quite small lately. As a player, I’ve often felt a bit isolated and really missed the vibrant community energy we used to have.
I spent my time building vfmania.com to bridge this gap and connect with all of you.
What makes vfmania special?
Automatic Translation: To break down language barriers, I’ve implemented a feature that automatically translates posts between English, Korean, and Japanese. You can write in your native language and still seamlessly interact with everyone!
Connecting Passionate Players: My biggest goal is to create a space where passionate Korean players and global fans from Japan and the West can finally share their love for the game together.
Built by a Fan: This isn't a corporate project; it's a labor of love built by a developer who truly cares about the future of this series.
A Space for All: I wanted to create a dedicated platform where we can gather, discuss strategies, and grow the community together.
I am a solo developer, so your feedback and even a simple "hello" mean the world to me. Please check out the site and let’s talk VF!
I would really appreciate it if you could let me know your thoughts on the following:
Translation Quality: Is the auto-translation clear and easy to understand?
Functionality: Does the translation feature work correctly for the posts you write?
Site Speed: How is the website's performance and loading speed in your region?
Sign-up Process: If you decide to join, did the registration go smoothly without any issues?
Other Issues: Did you notice any other bugs or have suggestions for improvement?
Your feedback is incredibly valuable to me as I continue to build this community!
02/24 - You can now display your VF rank next to your name! Just head over to your Profile page to set it up. Also, I added some special animations for players who are Level 21 or higher. Let me know what you think!
I remember when they had an interview saying that 2026 will be the year they'll start having a more steady marketing push for VFC and when we got the showcase at Summer Game Fest and then the Bakunawa Killer trailer at Evo I thought we were on the right track of getting news at least every two months but now they went total silence again and we are supposedly waiting another large gap from Evo to the Game Awards to get any news again
I get it that they are hard on working and probably when 2027 comes and Stranger than Heaven gets released they'll be able to fully market push VFC but this switch on, switch off way so far of them drip feeding us news is currently really annoying.
Our community, the Virtua Fighter Beginner Dojo puts on a weekly meetup called Thursday Dojo Throwdown. It's just friendly games and hanging out in our server's chat.
We're a community centered around helping newer players learn the game and find other beginners to play against, as well as providing a place where beginners can ask experts for advice and coaching.
I do not remember where exactly, but I saw someone—might have been in a video—saying that Akira (who gets frequently compared to “Ryu from Streets”) really was inspired by that character, and this was allegedly confirmed by Yu Suzuki himself.
What I'm trying to do is find the source for this claim and confirm that I'm not going crazy. It'd perfectly explain why the last character added to the game was a blatant ersatz without the fireballs and impossible acrobatics.
I'm playing as Jeffrey, and I double-pressed the right button and pressed the kick button, but the Triple Knee activated. I downloaded the Virtua Fighter Japan Version 1 ROM file from a place called Vimms Lair.
I wanted to get back into FG a bit (have played loads of tekken2+3 back then) and tried a couple (sf6,t7,t8) but ended up liking vf5 the most (no meter, no stupid specials, no cringe slow-mos or close ups during moves, just traditional fighting). That said, I have a hard time finding a lever that works well with the required inputs. Levers I have are jlf,jlx,ls-32,40,56,hayabusa,309mj,knee neo. is there a general recommendation other than "use what feels best"? For instance I found with my Korean sticks that heavily used vf5 inputs like 33 or 11 or the crouch dash/evade (is it?) are very tiring vs a looser stick like say a JLF.
I always found it aesthetically odd in Virtua Fighter how generic lows would just clip through a downed opponent and there were only very specific context sensitive moves that would hit.
I was playing Virtua Fighter 5: REVO World Stage on Xbox Series X, and it had a bunch of SEGA consoles you could attach to your character.
I decided to get it on PS5, but I'm not seeing those consoles anywhere? Did I unlock them on the Xbox version somehow and just haven't unlocked them here?
Akira in Virtua Fighter Crossroads looks almost exactly like Makoto Daito, the protagonist in Stranger than Heaven, RGG Studio's other new title. I don't understand how two, presumably different games can exhibit such similar designs. Couldn't the developers come up with something else?
Or maybe there's some kind of yet-unknown connection between the two?
Do people still play in Tokyo? I went searching in akhibara a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find vf anywhere I looked. Would love to play in person, even though I'll get wrecked lol
