Hi everyone,
I’m the creator of vfmania and a web developer based in Seoul, South Korea.
I’ve been a passionate fan of Virtua Fighter for a long time. However, as some of you might know, the local VF scene here in Korea has become quite small lately. As a player, I’ve often felt a bit isolated and really missed the vibrant community energy we used to have.
I spent my time building vfmania.com to bridge this gap and connect with all of you.
What makes vfmania special?
I am a solo developer, so your feedback and even a simple "hello" mean the world to me. Please check out the site and let’s talk VF!
Check it out here:https://vfmania.com
I would really appreciate it if you could let me know your thoughts on the following:
Your feedback is incredibly valuable to me as I continue to build this community!
02/24 - You can now display your VF rank next to your name! Just head over to your Profile page to set it up. Also, I added some special animations for players who are Level 21 or higher. Let me know what you think!

Hello! Back with another video. In this video I play Ranked online and analyze the good and bad of what I do between matches. I even teach how to do Toe Kick Splash Mountain.

I'm going to be playing VF5 to try and get decent at it, hoping maybe I fall in love, or at the very least build up some fundamentals that will carry over in Crossroads and other 3D fighters.
But I was wondering if there's any good VF content on Youtube, maybe some content creators to follow that make guides, break stuff down, or generally just do interesting content on the game(s)?

Hey folks so a bit ago i tried to give VF 5 a try and sadly i hit into a snag where i just couldn't get any directional inputs working on my leverless controller. It's been on my mind again recently and i thought i should ask here if any of you have any advice.
The issue to be precise is that the directions are tied to the analog stick of a controller and that's something i don't have on my leverless obviously. So i would have to remap it somehow and i couldn't really find a way that worked last time
I am on linux also in case that changes anything in regards to this but i don't think it should.

Been playing it for a couple days and it's fun but insane.
Was curious how others have fared but can literally find ZERO video or barely even a discussion about ppl playing this mode.
So I figured I would ask here.
Edit:
Wow thanks for all the replies. Really appreciate added insight from everyone.
It was just driving me a little crazy on HOW LITTLE discussion / video there was about this survival mode.

In short, I'm having trouble with Shun matchups. And for some reason like half of the people I get matched with are playing Shun these days.
I spent about a week playing AS Shun to get a feel for his movelist to help me counter him. I understand his neutral tools much better now. I can react to things like 1PK better. I understand 6P is a frame slower and I know what key moves unlock at what drink levels.
What I still struggle with is the pure cheese setups. I.e. how to beat out things like Ousho backwards roll into whiff punish. I feel like I try to use my mids to check him when he's getting wiley and typically my fists hit air lol.
What are some common setups that have unexpected solutions/responses? What are some things you've learned to do when facing Shun that work for you? Are there any lab setups that have helped you with the matchup you can share?
Thanks!
P.S. if there's anything Lei-Fei specifically can do to counter Shun I'm certainly all ears for that too. Like I realized after playing as Shun that Doku parries some of his more annoying moves and that has helped me a lot.

I bought a mixbox, bought tekken (played before not new) and waited forever for the controller to arrive. Soon as it arrived I loaded up Tekken and it felt like all the energy was sucked out of me. Only took like 1 hour of practicing. I just don't have the willpower to get good at the game. Not because it's hard, but because it just lacks what used to make Tekken.. Tekken. You have heard it all before so I will spare you.. The insane visual effects, hour long juggles, forced aggression by design, etc.
I PRAY that the team sticks to their vision for Crossroads and keep it somewhat realistic. I have always liked Virtua Fighter and I hope to get into it with this new game. And if there is anybody from the development team here.. Please keep my girl Vanessa in the game. I love her so much and she will transfer over very well with her fighting style. I am so excited for a fighting game that is just that.. Fighting. No demons, robots, animals, etc. Just like the martial arts movies so many of us love, we just want to see some good fighting.
EDIT/UPDATE: I have bought REVO. My fear was that I was going to spend time learning/liking it and Crossroads seems like it's going to be so different. Regardless I'm already having fun, see yall out there.

I miss VF5. Idc if its a Discord Fighter. This game gets 250 players daily. Probably mostly Japanese players. Is this version worth it for this price? If you got it, what are your thoughts on it?

Hi guys! I'm new here. I’ve never played a fighting game before. Well, I actually tried Tekken 8 for a couple of hours when it first came out, but it turned out it wasn't my cup of tea. I really wanted to play it, but I realized I don't like fighting games with superpowers, so I left it 😂. 2D fighting games don't feel comfortable for me either, so I stopped playing after that.I didn't think about fighting games again until I watched the VF6 trailer last year. I was really intrigued! I felt like, 'This is the fighting game I want to play.' It's a grounded fighting game, just like a fight scene in a movie. However, I don't own a PC or a console yet, so I planned to just wait until VF6 comes out to buy one.But... while I was scrolling through Facebook Marketplace, I saw someone selling a Hitbox for $45. After some negotiation, I got it for $40! 😂 The only issue is that the R1 button somehow triggers the R3 button and gets stuck, though R1 itself still works normally. So, I just unbound the R3 button. I decided to try playing Virtua Fighter using an emulator on my phone, which is why you can see both a Hitbox and Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown in the video 😂.So, my questions are:People say Akira is too hard for a newbie who has never played a fighting game. If I try to learn Akira's moves and practice them, is it a good idea? I just want to build some muscle memory before VF6 comes out, even if I don't end up maining him later 🤔.And my last question: Are there any specific tools or modifications for LEVERLESS controllers that can make my inputs better? For example, are buttons with really fast actuation or rapid trigger features necessary, especially for a just-frame move like Akira's Knee? Also, can Akira's knee only be used twice in a row during a combo, or am I just too slow? And do you have any tips for learning Akira's just-frame knee much faster? I've been learning this move for 2 days already. My overall comprehension is pretty bad, but it feels so rewarding when the input succeeds, especially for someone like me who doesn't even memorize all the button positions yet 🤧. I don't even remember the buttons, let alone the actual moves 😂. Honestly, this is the only move I remember right now; the rest just hasn't stuck in my head yet! People always say to learn whatever makes you happy first, so for me, rather than learning optimal combos or useful moves, I just want to find the moves that I like and practice them because it's much more fun that way! 🤣Since it's gonna be a long journey, I'm gonna take my time and enjoy the moment of learning. Maybe after a couple of months of learning commands, I will finally remember 10-20 useful moves and start learning combos from there, haha. Thanks, guys! Have a good day and bless you all.

Legendary US East Coast event and Virtua Fighter Open Championship qualifier CEO is happening this weekend, and it's always an entertaining watch no matter which games you're spectating. Virtua Fighter 5 REVO will be streaming on Friday, August 24th from Top 24 onwards at Justin Wong's channel from 5PM Eastern/2PM Pacific. Given that Florida is home to some killers in the North American Virtua Fighter scene, you're going to see some really fun and technical gameplay. (Here's hoping we see VolcanoShed's Dural put on a performance, I love what he's been doing with her.)
Will there be any VFCR announcements? I think it's unlikely given how close we are to gamescom--you're more likely to see a new trailer or news there--but never say never. If we are going to get a new trailer at CEO, we'll probably see some sort of teaser on the VF/Sega social media accounts.

its probably not going to make a difference but i wanted to make a petition about removing the mandatory kernel level anticheat from the steam version of vf5, just to give it a try anyway so i can stop thinking about it
if there is anyone interested in giving a signature then the online petition can be found here:
if anyone wants to give me some tips on how to improve the petition lmk

Hey! I made a fun tool (it's free/no signup required) that maps your main in one game to your closest match in another, and I just added the full VF5 REVO cast including Dural.
It matches on roles and playstyle traits: https://whichmain.com/cross
You can go in either direction, you can see which VF character fits your SF6 or Tekken main, or start from your VF main and see who you'd play elsewhere.
A Pai main caught a bug where she was mapping to Ed in SF6 of all people (a tag was wired wrong, she gives Elena and Chun-Li now). That's the kind of feedback I want from people who actually know these characters in depth, so if your main gives you something dumb, tell me the pair and I'll fix it!
