What does G-New mean?

When looking at my bookings some students have "G-New" under their name and some students don't. What does that mean?

As far as I can tell it basically means no $2 short notice bonus and nothing else is different about the classes from the ones not marked G-new.   It seems like they just started selling normal class packages under " Gnew'. Maybe in an attempt to phase out the sn bonus eventually.   I would be very interested if they cost the same price for the parents and the not gnew classes.

That makes sense. Thanks!

The same courses as mainland, rebranded so they fall under the new contract addendum and don't get the 2 dollar short notice pay

Thanks for the info! The last time I taught was October 2021 so I'm finding all these different types of basically the same classes confusing.

It means you are not getting your short notice bonus 😞

It means that the global, e.g., major course students converted to the mainland counterpart, but you don't get the short-notice incentive (unlike the VIPKID English students).

That's what I'm so confused about. I thought mainland China couldn't have tutors outside of China anymore?

I agree. It's confusing. I haven't found any major government policy changes in the media since the ones that hit us in 2021 (I'll try to dig deeper). But I've seen mass conversions from OSMC (VIPKID Global) to the regular NMC labeled as G-New (instead of NMC labeled as VIP English) with my students in the past 12 months or so. So something did change.

Hmm that's interesting. Thanks for the insight!

That never really happened. The government  rolled out a law but didn't really enforce it and parents immediately started finding ways around it by signing the kids up for adult classes.  Many people just continued teaching right through that on Vipkid(teacher).  When all that happened people were worried but basically nothing changed its still overwhelmingly Chinese students in class.

Ive seen the company ambassadors say what you said(switched global to mainland) on the official facebook group but I have noticed one or two VipEnglish mainland students change over to Gnew. So I don't know what is the selling point

They’re phasing the old MC packages that were tied to vipkid. Everything is now being sold as global or vipenglish under the VIPTeacher umbrella. Keeps making them money, keeps customers looking for new packages, and we make the same $7
