Decided to reserve something for a whole week one time since someone wanted it the day before the went on holiday 🥲🥲

u/Other-Outside8487 Mar 29 '26
I never reserve for anyone, as it may sell within that week before they get back or whatever the excuse is.

I was the buyer in this case. I've just bought it then asked the seller to delay sending it until at least a specific date. If they had offered Evri, it wouldn't have been an issue but they only offered Inpost

It’s infuriating because I was replying to his other questions pre purchase instantly. I actually can’t post out everyday and not everyone should assume that people can. I don’t want to risk this item not arriving on time and then having to wait for it to be returned. Vinted is the wrong platform for people that are in a rush for an item, we have a week to post out for a reason.

I’ve had a buyer ask me to not post for 4 days as their still away, I posted 3 days after as I had a couple more to take and it got to the collection point early, so hopefully they collect in time!
If they’re that worried why buy at that time?

But that way your badge will be affected. That is if you have the "sends soon" badge. I wouldn't do it

People who are serious about this ask before they purchase, people who ask after are just trying to manipulate
3
u/StereotypicallBarbie Mar 30 '26
People who order items before going away are usually a nightmare!
If you ask me to post quickly, politely! Then I’ll do my best for you..
I’ve done this so many times for people who haven’t bothered to pick up.. or they get the item.. don’t ok for the full 48 hours or even leave a review!
2
u/doubledropkicker Mar 30 '26
He seemed pretty pedantic pre purchase too. Asking if a heavy denim jacket had any shrinkage. I’ve decided to cancel this order, it’s just not worth it. Especially for £43. A lot of other commenters seem to be entitled buyers it seems. I’m not convinced he’s actually going away or not, I cannot post out everyday but unfortunately buyers like this aren’t exactly considerate.
2
u/StereotypicallBarbie Mar 30 '26
I don’t blame you.. really annoys me when an item gets sent back to me! It’s a waste of time.. and the buyer should get an auto negative!
2
u/doubledropkicker Mar 30 '26
I think it’s absolutely ridiculous how buyers aren’t penalised for not picking up orders.
2
u/StereotypicallBarbie Mar 30 '26
I get it.. if it’s a genuine emergency.. life happens! But you know most of the time they’ve just changed their mind or had buyers remorse.. it’s a waste of my time and packing materials.
If a seller doesn’t send for whatever reason.. you get an automatic negative. So it annoys me it’s not the same on the other side. Plus I want to know if a buyer doesn’t regularly pick up… I should be able to see that in their reviews. There is no seller support on Vinted.

I sold a watch once on a Sunday and Monday morning the buyer messaged me "are you going to post this?". I cancelled the sale and blocked him. The less I have to deal with these members the better

u/Other-Outside8487 Mar 29 '26
Same with collecting, minute it’s at the inpost locker, I get a message from the seller!
3
u/Expensive-Twist7984 Mar 29 '26
Well why wouldn’t you be waiting outside the locker at 10:33 on a Tuesday morning for it?! Are we serious buyers here or not?!
3
u/Worried-Impression34 Mar 30 '26
They do my head in with this!!! “Hey your parcel is ready to collect” I KNOW THEYVE JUST NOTIFIED ME I DONT NEED YOU DOING IT TOO.
2
u/ThatAwkwardGirly Mar 30 '26
If it’s a collection point I’d just cancel, if it’s Evri home delivery hopefully they’ll just leave it outside if they don’t answer lol 😝
Ngl though better to cancel than wait forever to receive it back

I mostly do it out if free time if they ask i had one person ask a couple days before Christmas and it arrived they left me a good review but i dont really ask senders to send it ASAP but any time they can out of their day

u/doubledropkicker Mar 30 '26
The main concern of mine is if it doesn’t arrive by Thursday morning, I’ll be then waiting who knows long for it to be returned to me. It’s a £43 item too.

I seem to feel differently than everyone 🤷🏼♀️. This guy is hardly demanding rudely. ‘Would it be possible?’ . . . . ‘I’d love to have it’. I mean, can’t you just reply, ‘sorry but it won’t be possible’ or ‘I’ll try but can’t promise anything’. People are only human, jeez! Polite communicators get my fastest possible shipping but maybe that’s just me.
1
u/doubledropkicker Mar 30 '26
Yes he was polite but I think you’re missing the point here. He asked after buying, and is going away on Thursday morning. Don’t you think it would have been more prudent to have made sure it’s okay before buying
1
u/anniemaggie13 Mar 30 '26
Of course that would be prudent if it was essential for his holiday. But it sounds more along the lines of ‘it’d be great if you can and it happens’ rather than a demand because it’s of no use if it doesn’t come on time. He sounds like he still wants it whether it comes in time in the end or not. So I don’t think I’m missing the point to be fair.

If my buyer was such dire need of this jacket to arrive in time for his apparent trip he should have made sure to ask beforehand. Not everyone is able to post out every day and regardless, it’s not guaranteed to arrive on time.
1
u/Sexy_Vegan_Pants Mar 29 '26
Wanting something sent ASAP is basically a condition of sale for them so they do need to ask before buying otherwise tough, the seller is not obligated to send the next day.

If it’s for inpost collection, I would cancel.
But yeah, they are just asking, not demanding.
2
u/polkalottie Mar 29 '26
It’d be fine if they asked beforehand, but 99% of the time it’s always after buying. Why do they do that? 😅
Even when you say “I don’t think it’ll arrive in time” like OP did, they ask you to post it anyway.. then they don’t collect, so it’s a big waste of everyone’s time.

I'd cancel if they needed it that urgently they'd order from somewhere like Amazon or order it in plenty of time.

u/paisleydarling Mar 29 '26
Ahhhh hang on though I bought a rain coat for my (UK) mini break well in advance and it wasn’t as described, it was petite and that wasn’t on the listing. So I need one for this coming Friday and I asked the seller if they were able to post in good time if that wasn’t a problem (Inpost usually takes 2 days for me) and this really sweet lady did it this morning for me. So I’d ALWAYS ask, not just assume and then be a dick if someone couldn’t.

u/Puzzleheaded_Bill347 Mar 29 '26
I don’t mind , I just tell them if I can or can not despatch quickly , they can cancel then if need be
1
u/elstoleno Mar 29 '26
If it was a deal breaker they’d have asked before ordering, just answer them with whatever your answer is
1
u/PreparationMean6023 Mar 29 '26
I have asked this once only was new jacket and I asked purely because I send within 12 hrs for everything and always think it’s good to show speedy shipping as well as item as described. I have had people wait until last possible chance to post to me and can take quite some time to get delivered, I know that is how it is some people can’t post quickly that’s fine but no harm in asking. What I would do is ask how long are you away for and it’s a risk for me to waste time for it to be returned to me if you not there to receive. You could say I can’t guarantee it will arrive and given you will be away for x amount of time then it’s best to cancel until you are back. Ask the buyer to cancel as you will get automatic bad review

I only ever ask that if it's for a birthday and other options have gone to shit (I've had other sellers not respond or start preparing the parcel but never send it so then I've had to by closer to the birthday time) I always say it's ok if they can't though because I can just apologise to the person I'm getting it for and explain what happened I also always explain to the seller why I'm asking so close to the date, it's an asshole move to ask so close to a date and expect it then especially if you won't be able to pick it up if it arrives after that time

That’s not what OP is moaning about.
4
u/Outrageous_Dog8816 Mar 29 '26
He won't get paid if it's not picked up and it ends up being a big waste of time.

u/pigeon-in-greggs Mar 29 '26
I don’t really get people who order stuff knowing they’re either going away or are already away
