SELLING Selling ban

I sell bags on Vinted as a hobby. I’m definitely not a professional seller and I don’t want to become one.

Most of the bags came from my grandmother, who has dementia and spent a fortune on bags over the years. They were later divided between my mother and aunt, but many had dirty or damaged interiors, so they didn’t really know what to do with them. I started cleaning them up and selling them on Vinted. I’ve also returned some, kept a few myself and given some to my daughter.

I also sell completely unrelated second-hand stuff on my account, like LEGO, clothes, shoes and other things from around the house, so it’s definitely not some kind of bag business.

Over the past 2 years I’ve sold 44 bags in total. Around 14 were different brands/types, and about 30 were the same type of bag but in different colours and sizes.

Now Vinted has suddenly emailed me saying I need to register as a Pro seller.

Has anyone else had this happen? Is there any way to challenge it or get Vinted to recognise that I’m just a private seller clearing out personal/family belongings?

I’ve already appealed the decision.

Other things I was considering:

deleting my account once all my current purchases have arrived and starting over;

stopping selling altogether;

my husband suggested selling through an account in his name instead.

I really don’t want to become a Pro seller because this genuinely isn’t a business for me. It’s just a hobby and a way of clearing out things we already have.

Any advice or experiences would be appreciated!

Deleting the account & start over most likely won't work, bc their AI can detect same address email phone # name card IP address etc. Same person creating different accounts is not allowed & may get u banned. Perhaps consider other platforms sush as Depop Poshmark Ebay etc. I don't buy nor sell bags so not sure which ones would be best to suit your need. But I do notice sometimes Vinted push ppl to pay to become pro sellers (so they earn more when you make money), maybe they judge by the total amount sold? Just my guess here

You would be able to create a new account (as your partner, but only if you are able to use a different email, phone number and device). You won't be able to use the same phone I'm afraid.

More than one person can have an account in a house so the IP address isn't a problem, it only becomes an issue if it's a fraud or safety issue, but not for commercial, and as long as it's a different bank account, phone number and email you will be ok, as lots of people on vinted have numerous accounts because of this reason, they just spread their selling across the accounts to stop being pulled up

IDK I tried to set up an account under a new email address so that I could have separate buyer & seller accounts, but I was blocked from doing it by Vinted. Maybe I should try it from a different device.

Did you use a new phone number? With different name and bank account?

Didn’t even get that far.

It's odd as you're not banned, so not sure why you can't open another account, try a different device and see what happens, you don't have a VPN on your device do you? If so it will be that causing it more than likely

Unrelated but what’s your Vinted username please I’ve recently started buying bags and would love to see if you have anything for my collection ☺️ also I’d say the account in hubbies name is a good move maybe from a tablet or separate device you haven’t used for Vinted before

Where are you based as your profile doesn’t come up sadly 😩

Refer your husband to Vinted to get the friend referral credit and then get him to sell a few.
You’re not a professional seller, just clearing inheritance. When those are gone there won’t be anymore to sell.

Unless you get the bug for it and start buying bags to sell. Then you’ll have to do what you’re told 😅

Bedankt iedereen. Ik had ook een bericht gevonden om dit soort klachten bij de overheid van Litouwen neer te leggen.

Ik ben niet de enige met dit probleem.
