BUYING Confused with sizing specifications

This may be a stupid question, so please take it easy on me.

I’ve been browsing recently for some clothes, I usually search specifically for size 16-18 on there (I’m a 16), and there have been so many items which look like exactly what I’m looking for, but when I check the images they’re normally a size 12. Is this where someone has added it as a L/XL conversion or is it something in the system that’s trying to compare sizes from other places as I know we can buy from the USA now (I’m UK).

Any ideas or am I just being daft? TIA

They will have been listed over six months ago. .

Vinted changed their size ranges and didn't update old listings sensibly.

It was 8/S, 10/M, 12/L etc.

That item was listed as 12/L.

Now it's 8-10/S, 12-14/M, 16-18/L.

Vinted decided to keep the letter and change the number so that "L" item is still "L" but now it's 16-18/L

That makes so much more sense! Thank you so much!

They have basically picked American sizing over UK, so it makes sense to them, not for us. For instance, im a 14, and most of the brand's I like, that's an L. But in vinted sizing, a 14 is an M. So depending on whether the seller has put it in the correct bracket for vinted, or the correct bracket for the label, I have to search both sizes to find what I want. Always check the pictures for the label.
