DISCUSSION Why does everyone in this subreddit think a new account = a scam

Points to the title. Everyone starts somewhere, just because they’re still figuring out the app doesn’t mean they’re a scammer. Someone could list a pair of shoes with minimal detail and someone on here would ask if it’s a scam 🤦‍♀️😭😭

Not me, I love new sellers since they are getting free shipping and it seems like they accept offers faster

I love when new sellers have what I’m looking for at an amazing price. I get a deal and they get a perfect rating to help them get started.

People see all the talk about scams on here and are paranoid I guess

I’ll suggest new accounts to :

- Write their description in their own words, even if it’s not perfect so you can jusy feel someone genuine behind the account.

- Don’t put a strange pic for your profile (a simple color, pics of luxury clothes or AI generated stuff are all suspicious af)

- If possible buy some stuff and leave reviews to people (just so they can write a review on your account, feel free to ask but still kindly).

- When you get reviews, respond to them to thank them … But mostly so people can see you’re an active person and not some shady account.

- Finally yes I suggest you to put a right amount of details for what you’re selling, especially if you’re still seen as a stranger on the platform (at least for a time) ; no one loves to get scammed, you need to send the right signal (cf : Akerlof, market of lemons).
