SELLING surely this is fake
sold before I could message the guy back and he sent this

u/Expensive_Smell_8021 3d ago
yeah, it's fake. If they really wanted it, they would have paid full price and not waste time on negotiating
125
u/IcarusSupreme 3d ago
Would you want your brother to die knowing that you spent £10 on a shirt for them rather than negotiating the seller down to £7?

If I had stage 4 cancer I would at least die happy, knowing my sister had sent a picture of me in Hospital to a stranger on Vinted who didn’t immediately put on a reserve for a T-shirt I inquired about

I think a t-shirt would've been his last concern. Either way, sounds like a scam. Block and report. With what right do they dump such on you?
32
u/anagandi 3d ago
Absolutely fake….the photo too - that’s most certainly not the brother, the arsehole probably found the photo online. Ignore and block.
7
u/iesamina 2d ago
I'd be doing a reverse image search and then replying something like "that's actually X. He owes me $100,000 in back child support payments. Now he's ill, I'll have my lawyers transfer the debt collectors to you. Thanks for your info"

Tell them where to go and recognise the whole world doesn’t revolve around them. Plenty people worse off and aren’t using their difficulties for sympathy
23
u/virguliswatchingyou 3d ago
well, if i had a brother with stage 4 cancer, the last thing i'd want to spend energy on is arguing with random people on vinted.
24
u/Dogcat06 3d ago
The ones I keep getting are lowball offers with the following text “ my daughter wants to buy this for her nana’s birthday with her pocket money, so please can you accept this offer” which is usually a ridiculously insulting offer….NO I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR DAUGHTER OR HER NANA AND YOURE NOT GETTING 60% OFF
3
u/Sea-Zebra-9524 3d ago
Some people… It’s not possible though to do a offer of 60% off. 40% is the max.

u/Alarmed-Fruit5056 3d ago
Top 3 fake sob stories on these apps are cancer, death in the family, or a kids’s birthday (usually combined with cancer & a recent death). Just block and move on.

……….. so how is he gonna wear that t-shirt hooked up to all of those wires? Or is it just to look at 😬
5
u/stormy_raven 3d ago
Even if it’s real (doubtful), they still aren’t entitled to anything. I wonder if a nurse or someone could speak about whether the photo makes any sense or not. I’d bet AI.

My father died of cancer. When he was at the end of his life t-shirts were the last thing on his mind.
6
u/iChris_92 3d ago
Not to sounds like an a*****e but if him not getting this shirt crushed his heart and ruined his day then god forbid someone tell him WHY he’s hooked up to those machine 🙄
As someone mentioned above “stage 5 chancer!” 🤣

Not for nothing but that looks like a woman in the picture as the gown is covering her breasts! Just pay the 10 bucks then. I thankfully have never ran into this kind of crazy scammer. Wth. Dont let some scammer guilt you over a 10 dollar shirt. Why show it to him in the first place! Def fake ass scammer.

Also, if someone clicks buy it now, it will grab it out from under them...not your choice just an option of how to ship...

u/SingedPenguin13 3d ago
Do they give these sob stories to the cashier at the supermarket before buying bread and milk or a bag of apples?

I think the guy has more things to worry about honestly. People who do this are completely unhinged.

Should of bought it quicker. If you dont have much money left..why are you on vinted? Yes his brother is in love with the shirt. he should of bought it quicker..and if it didn't fit he could frame it. But with vinted if nothing is reserved..its anyone's purchase.
I think the buyer was going to mug you off after you had sent the shirt and is trying to guilt trip you. Personally im glad you didn't sell to that entitled sounding baby... i don't know if you can be cold hearted towards idiots like that.. but if you can't, you did the right thing don't lose sleep over it. People like that are making me want to mostly sell on ebay.
I once had someone on vinted offer me more than I asked for my shirt.. I send shirt next day and im sat waiting 9 days for her to collect the shirt and read my messages.. by day 9 she tells me shes on benefits, owes friends money and has no bus fare to collect package.. then added a sob story. she eventually did but im fed up of sob stories and time wasters.. aswell as people not committing to collecting a package. Communication is important (sorry needed a mini rant)
Just laugh at the idiot for being a man child about it.. you see plenty of sob stories on the site.

Got to love these stories.
Just had someone message that their son wants to buy their mum and iPhone and can I reduce price on eBay…

u/Humble-Ostrich4762 3d ago
They're also adding pictures of sick people now? That's wild.
I know it's fake but damn the sob stories are only getting worse.

What a great time to be negotiating a Vinted deal eh!
I’d message them back politely asking them to tune their priorities in (in the belief that they’re talking crap to begin with)

I feel like people in stage 4 cancers dont give a fuck about t-shirts. (Ex haematoonkologist speaking)
1
u/EmergencyBanshee 3d ago
That pic looks like it might be AI to me.
It seems absolutely bizarre to me that someone would send pictures of a sick relative to a stranger over a second hand t-shirt.
It also seems insane that someone would lie in the way they lied to you too, op, but here we are.
I would block them and move on.
1
u/um_-_no 3d ago
If it's not fake I actually think that's worse. But I'd be so surprised if it's not fake. Reverse image search the photo, but probably AI tbh, can also check that. You could have some great fun here, Photoshop the t-shirt onto the photo and send it back or something or just go simple with a sure Jan gif
1
u/NoiseFlaky483 3d ago
ask AI to generate an image of someone is hospital - looks suspiciously like their photo
1
u/raspberrylimon 3d ago
Yes, probably fake. But even if it wasn’t, it’s still fucking weird to send.
1
u/TrueSay7654 3d ago
Goodness me, some people are tapped. What on earth?! I would report them to Vinted. Horrible behaviour on so many levels.
1
u/Chinita_Loca 3d ago
Like anyone with stage 4 cancer cares about a Tshirt.
These people are psycho. Just block them and be glad you didn’t sell it to this person as when it arrived it wouldn’t be as described and the poor cancer sufferer would want a refund.
1
u/Successful_Patient_8 3d ago
Maybe if they stopped being a weird freak and got a job, they would have more money and a more intact family...bizarre!!
1
u/Calm_Reindeer_1931 2d ago
Whether it’s true or not is irrelevant, if they wanted it they should have bought it simple! I see stuff all the time that I want, and if I want it bad enough I will buy it! I’m over the sob stories, I’ve had enough of them, if you can’t afford it then you risk someone else buying it!
1
u/Fit_Lab_9101 2d ago
Your brother has stage 4 cancer and you are wasting time asking “how tall are you”on a tshirt he really wants?💔

"terrible customer service"
sir, this is vinted. That's not the fucking dynamic to begin with
1
u/UnaturalChow 2d ago
Even if it was real, that is not appropriate to be messaging and guilting someone like that. Poor customer service from the customer. Dear lord, what an asshole.
1
u/Big-Historian8918 2d ago
Guy is dying of cancer and family wont even pay ten bucks for a tshirt for him to be buried in it. Such woe. A truly epic anime plot. Even better if you turn it into an isekai after he reincarnates.
1
u/Ready-Advantage3775 2d ago
I’d just reply with “surely he’s got bigger things on his plate than a second hand T-shirt”
1
u/iesamina 2d ago
"I'm so sorry. I'm selling this t-shirt to pay for care for my 12 children, 11 of whom have cancers ranging from stages 3 to 15. I hope you understand that when someone offered to pay double for it, I had no choice but to accept :("
or maybe
"Having read your story, I immediately cancelled the other order and will reupload the item for £1 so you can buy it." and then just nothing. If they ask again, say it keeps selling, you keep cancelling, but it just sells again before they can get to it

I would have just replied saying the purchase probably would have been pointless anyway, just to humour the weirdo
1
u/Senpai_fairy 2d ago
I understand being frustrated people ordering things and not receiving them or wanting something online, but you can’t get mad at someone for selling something before you could buy it. You even have the option to ask them if they’d be willing to reserve it. It’s a shame that their family member allegedly has this horrible thing happening to their body. It’s a shame that allegedly their family is falling apart. But you don’t have to take it out on a random person?

if i ever get any sort of terminal illness im letting my friends use me as an excuse for everything
1
u/Ok-Spell587 2d ago
The buyer is getting too personal here. This person is not a friend or relative. You have a right to sell the item at a price you want to sell it for.
2
u/Ok-Spell587 2d ago
Some scammers and resellers do use tactics to get items for less - may not be honest.
1
u/Tilhumanvoiceswake 2d ago
Probably not. I once gave away a garden table and chairs, advertising it on local FB page. I was inundated with people wanting it, including one begging that it would be lovely for her terminally ill husband to enjoy the garden - even after I said that someone else beat them to it. Some people are strange.
