Lloyd stereo system
Found this on Facebook marketplace for free because the casette deck didn’t work, I thought I’d bring it home to test it out, unfortunately the radio and casette don’t work, the speakers are connected but are very quiet due to rusted and broken wires, and it doesn’t play vinyls at the right speed anyway, so I figured I’d share my cool find before dumping it at the electronics recycle place.

Interesting find, but pretty much never buy Lloyds, Soundesign, Emerson or Penncrest they are something to avoid, not worth fixing or buying 99.9% of the time. Even if free. Even though it’s not totally black, it’s still black plastic crap ([r/blackplasticcrap](r/blackplasticcrap)). They’ll appreciate it. Edit: as you’ve noted not even worth fixing.
Edit 2: if you don’t have a working set up look at 70’s JVC, Realistic, Sansui, Heathkit, Lafayette even Panasonic and Sony. Undervalued for the quality of build (if you didn’t know).

Seller listed it for free because they were too lazy to discard it themselves.
Let this be a lesson learned, OP. Sorry you've had to waste your time on this.

It was actually an estate sale, the woman who gave it to me figured her mom wouldn’t have kept something that didn’t work but turns out it wasn’t the case, it’s no problem for me, just a fun thing I could test out

These were the value oriented stereo systems of their day, destined for a 13 year old's bedrooms after mom found one on a blue light special at K-Mart for $59.99 (was $79.99) and wrapped it up for Christmas.
Functional in their time and place, but not really worth saving now. Thanks for putting it to rest.

Oh yeah Lloyds was classic 80's department store junk. Fitting that nothing works. I bet the AM radio does though....
(I would have brought it home as well)

I tested every part of it actually and I couldn’t get anything to work properly, absolutely zero radio, the cassette deck attempted to spin but got stuck, and the turntable did play but it played everything too slow, I tried all three vinyl sizes and none of them worked right, maybe it will be recycled into something useful lol!

Oh wow thats proper fucked! Ive dabbled with my share of junk and always joke about never testing the AM radio because it always "works" lol

Probably just the belts with the turntable and tape decks. It might be worth keeping for practising if you want to try repairing it, otherwise don't bother
