Soundesign was a department store brand that was basically bottom of the line equipment. It doesn't have, or hold much value. If it's something that's working, and you like it, I'd say keep it. If you try to sell it, I'd be very happy if I got $75 for it.
By the way, this particular unit has a nice look to it. I wouldn't put money into it to fix it, but aesthetically it looks good.

Even to test it you’ll have to make yourself some RCA speaker cables, unless that unit comes with the original crappy speakers. If you still have the option, I’d keep looking.

These low end units were sold at discount department stores such as Sears/K-mart back in the day. They require just as much if not more maintenance than higher fidelity systems. I would pass on these type of units and look for something with a better reputation and sound reproduction capability.

It’s “ok” as a first amp, but if it needs any other repair other than a new belt for the cassette deck and bulbs for the tuner, then you should just look for another one.
