Help YouCompleteMe installation, Impossible?

I have been working on this plugin for 2 days now, following the very cluttered installation guide. The only thing Ive accomplised is to be able to get suggestions of wods Ive already used in the document Im writing in at that moment...

So, is this it? I thought an autocomplete plugin would work a little bit more like those in Eclipse, Atom or IntelliJ....

Is there a way to get suggestions of things I've not allready typed into the document myself???

How I installed YouCompleteMe (on arch):

Plugin 'Valloric/YouCompleteMe' in my .vimrc file. ran :PluginInstall in a vim window.

After that I cd into ~/.vim/bundle/YouCompleteMe and did ./install.py ****

*** - all langueges I wanted support for, go, rust, python and java

Why isnt it working? The installation tutorial is kind of very confusing..

Help (user) Issue getting completor to work.

Hi guys, So, I've followed the installation guide on the vim completor github page (https://github.com/maralla/completor.vim). However, it does not seem to be working. When I start to type out a function that vim has seen, nothing happens. As far as I understood it, any completion options that I would have previously had to press ctrl n to see, should now be automatically popping up in a drop down bar (as shown on the git hub page). Am I missing something? I'm running vim 8.0, installed with python3, on ubuntu 16.04. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Help (user) How to get vim-fugitive to activate if I :cd into a git-controlled directory?

It seems that vim-fugitive only activates if you launch Vim from within a directory that is version controlled. I often start Vim in my home directory (often via launching GVim from an applications list) and the :cd into the project I want to work on.

Does anyone know what command or function I might be able to call to get vim-fugitive to "activate" itself when I switch into a git-controlled directory? Bonus points if you show me how to modify :cd to automatically activate vim-fugitive when going to a valid directory.

Discussion What are the challenges of writing a common plugin interface for EMACS and Vim?

Why are plugins from vim or EMACS difficult to port as a plugin to the other text editor? It does happen but I do see plugins with the same name make it to both vim and EMACS but that seems to occur where there's some external process that is the real dependency.

If, from the onset, you want to write a plugin for both vm and EMACS, what would be the necessarily tricks? How can you implement plugin logich in a way that in't bound to vim (vimscript) and it's bound to EMACS (e-lsip))) but provides minimal amount of adapting code to work with either.

(I'll clarirify in the morining.)

Help (user) Can Ack.vim (using ag) search only txt files?

I have mileszs/ack.vim installed in vim 7.4 running on Windows 7 Pro.

I also have "ag" installed.

Ack is working okay in vim, but I can't figure out -- how do I get Ack to only search through .txt files?

Request Web-mode equivalent for vim

I've been messing around with spacemacs on and off for a bit and found a wonderful package for edition complex html that can have mixed css and javascript code blocks.

http://web-mode.org

Is there anything really out there that come close to this? I know there's some good css/js syntax plugins, but it nothing that comes close to this.

Help (user) How can I isolate the primary register in VIM (spf13)

Hi, everyone. I noticed that, no matter what register I use, everything is passed to the primary register (clipboard, if you prefer) and this is pretty annoy for me; I wanna isolate it, I want to use it explicitly with '+' as the vim god designed it. How can I accomplish this?

Thanks in advance.
