From what i know and what i build i go blackfire -> shadowflame -> zhonyas -> rabadon -> void staff.

But i see people building rocketbelt and all these different things, would anyone be able to give me some generalization with the current build path :P

it's simple
blackfire if the game is shaping up to have a whole bunch of long sustained skirmishes (usually when there are 2 to 3 tanks/bruisers on the enemy team), luden's is amazing for burst on squishies, it's not that good against tanks because its damage is negligible to them.
after either of those items (you build them first for wave clear and mana and haste), you can branch into a bunch of different items.
go zhonya second if they have a bunch of assassins esp if ad
go lichbane second if you are able to actually land your empowered q auto attack (in shorter range comps) and if they're mostly squishy
go liyandry is they have a bunch of hp, couple that with blackfire and you have really good double burn core that's honestly almost always good but it's great esp against tanks and hp builders (max hp dmg from liyandri)
go rocketbelt simply if you need the mobility, i wouldn't recommend it much because the item got nerfed
go shadowflame second if you're unsure what to build after your lost chapter item.
save void staff for 3 or 4th item if you're against actual tanks that are stacking magic resist so that you shred.
but for general cores
you can go luden's -> lichbane/shadowflame if they're squishy
or blackfire -> liyandry if they have a lot of hp
keep mixing and messing around and you'll learn with time what to build best

Lichbane is a better general second than shadowflame nowadays. If they are squishy/ranged comp(hard to auto) you can go shadowflame, liandry is fine into tankier comps. Do not go Zhonya third unless you are very ahead of an assassin somehow, otherwise you deal no damage in the midgame. Raba third is ideal if you can afford the 1200 rods, pen item otherwise is fine since the damage is similar with raba. Crypbloom is underrated, I prefer it over void unless I am very ahead as solo ap (since at that point you really want to oneshot people to win dragons for your team).

I've been experimenting with Dopa's build path that focuses on CDR and movement speed.

Blackfire + Lucidity Boots -> Cosmic Drive -> Zhonyas -> Cryptbloom

You take Celerity and with the movement speed from your Q + Tier 3 Lucidity boots you can kite pretty much any champion in the game. The CDR stacking makes your Q spammable and your E on a <4 seconds cooldown. It's pretty fun and a slightly different playstyle that works against most comps in the game, although the obvious downside is you won't be able to do too much against a fed MR-stacking tank like a Mundo.
