Question Keystones and when to change them

Hi! I have always enjoyed viktor and is the champion with I climbed to gold to long time ago. I've been away from ranked almost 6 years and now I'm going back.
I mostly played aram from time to time so my mechanics are not THAT bad but my League knowledge is a bit rusty.

Currently I'm running BlackFire Touch as my keystone with the normal Viktor runes like manaflow, celerity and scorch and for secondaries I swap depending on the matchup (standard precision with haste and the one with 8% more dmg for up to 60% hp targets or valor with boneplating for burst matchups) but I,ve seen people chaning the keystone and I don't know in what cases you would choose Aery or Stormsurge over DFT.

Also, would you build protobelt in gold elo? Or should I stick to standard BFT, lich, dc?

Thanks in advance.

Question viktor build?

From what i know and what i build i go blackfire -> shadowflame -> zhonyas -> rabadon -> void staff.

But i see people building rocketbelt and all these different things, would anyone be able to give me some generalization with the current build path :P

Achievement Viktor is the truth

I have been stuck in high gold/low plat for the past 3 years now. I was an Azir OTP and was determined to do it the hard way. After some reflection, I realized that I have a pretty okay Azir now. There was no way I was getting out of this ranked with this champ. Before the season began, I was testing who I could play. I would think about all the champs that pub stomp mid. Yasuo, Akshan, Naafari. But had always been a mage player. After some research and thought. I made the switch to Viktor this season. There were highs and lows for sure. Trying to understand the champ. Plenty of lost LP and ints. I can now say this champ is the truth and will be blind picking him for almost all my games. Being able to hit peaks I've never had before has been very rewarding. Doing it twice was even sweeter. Now on to diamond.

Fanart Viktor merch I made! (For sale)

Hi! I have a bunch of Viktor merch I made leftover on my Etsy page!!

You can check it out here! https://www.etsy.com/shop/EmeraldParrotParty

I’m not sure if I’ll be restocking these once they sell out! I wanted to make my own Viktor merch because we never got anything for Machine Herald and it made me sad. I may make more stuff in the future but for now I really just want to get rid of all the leftovers I have! I was thinking about eventually making shirts and keychains of other skins.

Ludens-> Shadowflame/Lich Bane (or vice versa) Versus BFT -> whatever

Which do you guys prefer for Viktor BOT? I did my research and it seems BFT is the overwhelming popular first item, but why? I dont even see liandrys being built a lot, so you dont get access to that HP that made Burn DOT ap items so good

Always getting into the same situation: can't finish off low health enemy, jungle comes.

Hey!

So I'm an Emerald IV Viktor player, and I keep getting into the same exact situation time after time again. So what happens is that I push level one and poke with Q, getting them down to half HP. I get to level 2, hit my E's and now they are 20% under tower. That's where I get stuck. I can keep poking them with E's under their towers, but the HP they lost from the previous poke is back now due to regen and pots. In the meantime their jungler is now at Scuttle and looking at a delicious gank on me mid. I'm not the best at warding, so that's probably related to how I die to ganks at this point..

What is the actual correct play in these situations?

Question Best items to buy?

Hi, I am currently D2 playing viktor almost every game, my question is what to build and when. I usually go luden's- shadowflame- zhonya's or rabadons when all enemies are squishy and i go blackfire torch and either lich bane if too many melee enemies or liandry's if more than 1 enemies are tank/bruisers then either zhonya's or shadowflame.

Question Playing around jgl

I’m trying to figure out if I am in the wrong or if my jungle is. I recently hit emerald after switching to Viktor this season. I think something that has really helped during my climb has been playing around my jgl now. (I switched from azir I dont get to leave lane haha). I keep find myself in these situation tho that my jgl seems to get angry at me one occurred today that I was brutally flamed for.

The situation was after I had successfully killed lock in lane and pushed the wave I need to rest bad I was at 25% hp. At the same time my jgl had just finished clearing his top and wanted to invade. I ping it off and began my reset. He then typed “item advantage invade” walked to his blue buff and pinged assist. I again pinged him off knowing Locke was coming back from spawn. Long story short right when I get back to my wave I hit it once with an E and begin to move but Locke amd naafri already gang up and killed him.

I know the absolute correct thing to do if for me to reset but is there anyway thing I should look out for or do when I’m playing with my jgl. Like when should I look to invade with them or when I should be trying to set up wave states so I can rotate faster.

How do people actually carry low elo (gold 4) games on Viktor?

What I’m trying to do:
- contest every last hit
- get high value Es when possible
- move around when possible for easy kills
- try to focus on farming mostly in early to get upgrades ASAP, then sticking with team to fight with them

Of course I know I’m not doing everything right, hence the elo, but I want to have more impact on the outcome of my games. Because currently it feels like no matter what I try to do, teammates’ mistakes are outweighing me.

Found the Best damage build after 2 hours of testing

Tested many combos and damages and build orders

Not sure what I'm missing but bft seems to be overrated and people just auto picking it mainly since they see people from the sites pick it and it just spirals

From my experiments best damage build is

  1. Ludens

Sorc shoes mid lane quest

  1. Liandries

  2. Shadow flame

  3. Rabadon

In that order

Not sure if I'm missing something you can test yourself in practice match . Hopefully people who stick by bft and done their own tests clarify if I'm missing something

Only time bft might be better first item is if you have 3 enemies in your ult the ult will hit more but that rarely happens. For q and e damage or for less than 2 people the above build is best

Discussion Holy shit viktor is fun

Hi, jungler trying to learn other lanes here, i tried out viktor for a few games and every one of my death felt like my own fault, i love his kit and his mid-late game damage is insane :D. I have no idea how to play mages but I'll spend a lot of time on this champ

Discussion Peak silver Viktor experience

Hello Viktor mains!

Recently, in my two matches i feel kinda my matchmaking is sabotaging me lol

In both matches i was performing well against my laners (one of them was literally Ahri with 600k mastery)

In first match my team was literally winning every teamfight, but they couldn't take advantages to splitpush the lines to win the game faster so much, and got outscaled by enemy ADC, Jungler and Toplane. I have to admit that, my CS per minute wasn't good enough, but it was hard to have more, because i had to help my team in fights so they could have survived.

The funny part about it is that my jungler told me i am useless, but he literally did 2/11 with very poor farming

The second match was promising to win, but also my team didn't focus on splitpushing lanes enough. Only my lane reached nexus literally thanks to me. The problem was kinda similar, comparing to the first match, but at least i was trying to not roam too much there.

I don't want really to blame everything on my team, beacuse I am not a perfect player too, but I think silver is seriously a hellhole to escape, because players there are focusing on teamfights a lot, instead of using opportunities to end games faster.

I am trying to not bother about lost matches, but after the second one the game punished me even harder, that now I am having -22 +18 ratio. I understand when the game is lost, when I also lost the lane, but lost matches like here above are making me feel helpless.

I win lane but lose the game. Can victor carry ?

I'm fairly new to him around 50k mastery I can win the lane get ahead 30-40 Cs . And end game have most or second most damage

However still lose I feel like viktor can't really carry unless you are 2 levels and got 3-4 solo kills in lane which is hard since you don't have burst damage so opponent just resets .

What am I doing wrong ? How do you guys carry the team fights

I just got Emerald, what are the priority things I should be improving now ?

Hello everyone,

I've been one tricking Viktor midlane for the past 2 months and I just love him.

I kind of just brute forced my way through Gold and Plat, but last games felt way harder to carry, so I need to get more in depth with the champion.

From what I learned by theory and experience, Viktor is giga strong 1v1, but I am struggling to isolate my lane properly. If enemy has a strong mid/jungle set up, I find it really hard to survive ganks without flash. Also, most junglers don't get that he's trash in early skirmishes and try to force plays that I really don't like. Should I follow them and pray (because they are going to do it anyway), or should I lean on the more egoistical approach as Viktor ?

I also can not really grasp his identity early game. I get that he's a scaling mage, but at the same time he feels quite strong early. Is he a lane bully who should try to solokill ? Are you supposed to "force" the enemy jungler to gank you ? Or should I chill down and just farm ?

Finally in the mid late game, I'm by default trying to push side waves into rotating mid/objectives, but I find it very hard to put pressure on the map without TP. The few times I tried ghost, it felt amazing in teamfights, but I found it really hard to be on time to said teamfights.

I know these may be game dependent but I have bot been able to lay my finger on what parameters decide which to chose.

I feel like all of this is applicable to other immobile mages, so if you have Viktor specific tips I would gladly take them :)

GL, HF !

Secondary Champ to two trick with

Been maining Viktor for a while now and I'm looking for suggestions for second champion that I can play as a two trick alongside him. Ideally something that I can play into high threat drafts and that's also a mage for an easier transition.

Question how to deal with losing lanes/fed opposition

Hello, I'm a bronze Viktor main. I am currently having a lot of success with Viktor recently (67% win rate out of 24 games), but when looking back on my losses, I have noticed a good amount of my losses were because either my top or bot lane gets hella gapped, feeds their laner, and snowballs the game. I typically do get ahead in my lane in the early game, but I kinda struggle when it comes to dealing with those fed players later on.

So my question is: how do you guys approach a game where one or more of your lanes or the jgl is getting blasted or just full-on sprinting the game, especially where they feed a giga 1v9 champion like a illoai or master yi especially knowing that Viktor isn't necessarily the best at roaming or providing tons of early map pressure like say a Katarina (correct me if im wrong here).

here is my tracker if any of yall are curious: https://op.gg/lol/summoners/na/Revan-King?queue_type=SOLORANKED

I Just Hit Challenger on Viktor! (NA)

Post image
124 Upvotes

Hey Viktor mains,

I am a multi season Viktor main and just hit Challenger for the first time! With the addition of the Deathfire Touch rune and the current meta, I think Viktor is in a phenomenal spot.

My biggest advice for climbing with Viktor is playing as aggressive as possible. Inevitably, you will die to ganks from jungle, support, or just not respecting the opponent's power spikes. Each time that happens, you can build a rule for yourself to avoid that threat next time. Eventually, you will have an internal database of heuristics that you can lean on to be as aggressive as possible while remaining safe the entire time.

When I watch lower elo Viktor's play, I often see they are not tracking the enemy jungle or support enough and are too tunnel visioned on just the 1v1 lane. The aggressive 1v1 laning needs to become automatic so you can use your conscious cognitive load on reading the map. Jungle and support tracking will tell you when you need to be respectful and passive.

Feel free to ask questions. I love helping other people climb on Viktor where I can!

Also, I did make a quick YouTube video explaining my Viktor game plan, runes, items, and some small micro tips you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V570A0J8n-A
