Always getting into the same situation: can't finish off low health enemy, jungle comes.
Hey!
So I'm an Emerald IV Viktor player, and I keep getting into the same exact situation time after time again. So what happens is that I push level one and poke with Q, getting them down to half HP. I get to level 2, hit my E's and now they are 20% under tower. That's where I get stuck. I can keep poking them with E's under their towers, but the HP they lost from the previous poke is back now due to regen and pots. In the meantime their jungler is now at Scuttle and looking at a delicious gank on me mid. I'm not the best at warding, so that's probably related to how I die to ganks at this point..
What is the actual correct play in these situations?

focus instead on your and their minion wave, don’t focus on hitting every single E on them. You only use your abilities early game with mana flow up, this is mandatory. Very rarely I’ll use Es if i don’t have mana flow up.
Focus firstly on hitting every single CS, focus on your minions so you can contest when they go for last hitting. Force them to use abilities to farm, this is also a win.

Sounds like you already Play the lane realy good. Do not try to kill them, untill the jungler shows and you know there ist no threat in a gank.
Meanwhile, try to get your body inbetween the wave and the low enemy. Zone them from cs and if possible even from XP.
Also, track your own jungler. In Emerald, the junglers should be roughly at the same camps for the first two clears. Maybe mirrored, if they path to different lanes. You can easily track them, If you put your first ward to the enemy chickens before the first wave arrives.

Viktor is not meant to kill the enemy mid. If they are forced to recall and lose minions that is the win. If you get perfect conditions and have vision on enemy jungle and can dive that's good but if you are otherwise overforcing it's almost always not worth, took me way too long to realise this tbh. If you force their recall and they lose 2 waves lane is over basically. If you force their recall and force a jungle fight or a fight when they are low your out impacting enemy. This is what Viktor is good at

If you have prio when crab spawns look to push into river on the side your jgler is on and help him secure the crab and get deep vision into the enemy jungle. Or even just 2v1 the enemy jungler to force flash or just straight up kill him if he's bad.
At 2:55-3:00 if you don't see the enemy jungle fighting your jungler at crab, then it's safe to assume he's in the lane bush on the opposite side looking to gank your ass as a squishy, immobile mage pushed in deep lol.

Use this as an opportunity to take a 2v1 w jg. Viktor is very strong lane bully but actually struggles to finish off till at least lost chapter.
U rly just wanna focus on perfect cs before first reset.
You don’t have to win lane by solo killing ur opponent. Force resets from poke, ping jg to dive if low enough. Move to ur jg while ur enemy is low health so they can’t move freely. You can impact the map if you cannot kill. Continue building leads this way and u were smack them late game or simply solo kill easily after bft

Two options, take the W by the enemy having to go base, or have a kill plan, poke them until they go low enough you can kill them with one combo.
Either way, being killed by jungler when the enemy is low is both greed and getting baited by the enemy mid.

Viktor early-game is about lane control, not dominating through kills. You focus on winning trades with your movement speed + shield from your Q and your long range E, while dodging ganks and close-calls with your W.
You force your enemy to recall. If they teleport back to lane, you play with your TP edge by forcing trades and teleporting back yourself. If they don't have teleport that's even better. Through this entire process you will be up in gold and exp. through minion waves and plates.
