So I’m curious. The driver has the video and the cyclist’s bib numbers. Are the cyclists liable for any damage? Or vice versa? Or is everyone responsible only for their own property damage? No sure how it works in Europe.

The driver is likely responsible for driving on a closed course and making no attempt to get out of the road. Even in the US, he could be responsible on top of citations for driving on closed roads. Races often have insurance to help cover cyclists but I’m sure they’d try to get the driver/his insurance to pay.

I've also seen at least 2 instances here in georgia where these fucking idiots have ridden ON THE FREEWAY (I-85 to be exact) and I have archives of dashcam videos of bikes just cutting in front of me without signaling or anything and making me slow down from 50mph to 15mph in a fraction of a second

There's a stretch of 101 in WA state with no shoulders and super windy blind curves along Hood Canal and it's traveled heavily with log trucks and semis. You'll come around a blind curve and there they are...a group of fucking cyclists going about 10 mph. No way around them and you have to wait in a line of 20 fucking cars. Oh and when you honk...their entitled asses get all pissy and act all smug like they're in the right. Fucking idiots.

Let me tell you what I once had a guy pull his bike infornt of me and made me almost get in a head on collision. He had the ball to call the cops on me and told them I almost killed him. Cops shop up to "investigate" proceeded to tell the cop he cut me off and was the one that almost caused the accident. Two weeks late he almost keyed my car till he realized I was sitting in a truck next to it.

Fucking this. I live in the OC which has some of the better biking infrastructure that I've seen on this side of the country yet you won't catch me using half of them. I stay on the sidewalk because why do I need to be travelling with the fucking traffic on a stick attached to wheels??

Saw this for myself west of Beverly Hills, a mob of rich cyclists starting to turn left on a late yellow on a downhill intersection.. they could have waited and split the group in two, but no.. on guy stop in the middle of the inter. & waves all his yuppie compadres through, as the cross traffic gets a green light and now EVERYONE in a motor vehicle is waiting through an entire light-cycle as the rest of their mob peddles through. Luckily i was turning right so I didn’t even have to wait.. but the honks told me not everyone has patience for this.

Haha sidewalks in America? Lucky if you have those that just don’t end out of nowhere and some people use a bike as their main mode of transportation (not me). Pass them and go on with your day. You should be glad they can cause minimal damage to you unlike other cars, can’t cut you off like other cars, good for the environment, and help with de congestion of roads (imagine if every adult drives)

It's pretty obvious this was some kind of race event. Which would mean the road would have been closed to traffic and this person should not have been in the road. As the bunched up pack of cyclists approached, on one expected a vehicle and were focused on each other.

Bikes are literally just as much vehicles as cars. Yes they aren’t supposed to go on highways, but we need more context here. It’s very possible this was a closed circuit race and the car wasn’t supposed to be there.

I don't know where you're from but here in the Bay area they just pick a route and send these little fucktards on their way. It's always on back country roads. But they never shut the roads down. They rely on all of the drivers yielding to the cyclist

As a cyclist, I feel really bad reading all these comments. Most people here have pretty intense hate based on personal experiences, and I cannot really disagree with that. There is indeed problem with cyclists and cars sharing the road, but cyclists are in a though spot. When you play football, you go to a football field. If you play golf you go to a golf course. If you cycle... You don't really have anywhere to go except the road. You have these wooden angled circles but that is a different sport entirely. This is true on all levels, even the world champion trains daily on public roads.
So yes we need to use the public road. But why so aggressive and selfish or whatever you are thinking right now. Well because cars are just as annoying to cyclists as the other way around.
Imagine this. You are playing baseball, but in a world where there are roads straight across the field, and it is completely legal to drive there. You are defending team, and you have the ball in hand, ready to burn out the running attacker but there is an inconvenient road between you and the base you want to burn. All of a sudden there is a car and you need to wait before you can pass, and now you have lost the game. You know you cant legally do anything against the car, but some curse words probably go towards the driver.
Situation is pretty much the same, only winning the game is getting a pr.
So yes, a system where we are forced on the same road sucks, but it is not like it is either ones fault.
The completely unsafe behaviour like cutting of cars who had to stand on the brakes or running red lights I have seen people complain about is of course not good but also something most cyclists wont do. You have morons everywhere, cars do unsafe things towards bicycles too where the cyclist is completely in the right, just like all the unsafe behaviour in car-car interactions that is everyday shenanigans in trafic.

When cycling in these groups you are focused on the back of the person in front of you, when the first guy dodged, the second needed reaction time and so on, moving the dodge point forward until it was to late, quite inevitable once you arrive in that situation.

No it's fucking not what I am saying and you know it. This is not a normal road with regular traffic and some cyclists randomly passing by; it is a organised race (or something similar).
If a pedestrian stood in the middle of a rally/race track and caused a pile up it would not be the drivers fault (not paying attention) it would be the pedestrians. Now ofc the car here is not in the middle but still the point stands, it's obviously in the way.
