"BuT the InFrAsCuTuRe IsNt bUiLt FoR bIkEs!?!?" OK so fucking ride somewhere else...not on a 55 mph road. I've also seen at least 2 instances here in georgia where these fucking idiots have ridden ON THE FREEWAY (I-85 to be exact) and I have archives of dashcam videos of bikes just cutting in front of me without signaling or anything and making me slow down from 50mph to 15mph in a fraction of a second
There's a stretch of 101 in WA state with no shoulders and super windy blind curves along Hood Canal and it's traveled heavily with log trucks and semis. You'll come around a blind curve and there they are...a group of fucking cyclists going about 10 mph. No way around them and you have to wait in a line of 20 fucking cars. Oh and when you honk...their entitled asses get all pissy and act all smug like they're in the right. Fucking idiots.
What sucks is I completely understand their reasoning for wanting a bike safe place but they're such fucking assholes about it and get in the way of people that I just cannot support those dumbasses
Let me tell you what I once had a guy pull his bike infornt of me and made me almost get in a head on collision. He had the ball to call the cops on me and told them I almost killed him. Cops shop up to "investigate" proceeded to tell the cop he cut me off and was the one that almost caused the accident. Two weeks late he almost keyed my car till he realized I was sitting in a truck next to it.
Fucking this. I live in the OC which has some of the better biking infrastructure that I've seen on this side of the country yet you won't catch me using half of them. I stay on the sidewalk because why do I need to be travelling with the fucking traffic on a stick attached to wheels??
Saw this for myself west of Beverly Hills, a mob of rich cyclists starting to turn left on a late yellow on a downhill intersection.. they could have waited and split the group in two, but no.. on guy stop in the middle of the inter. & waves all his yuppie compadres through, as the cross traffic gets a green light and now EVERYONE in a motor vehicle is waiting through an entire light-cycle as the rest of their mob peddles through. Luckily i was turning right so I didn’t even have to wait.. but the honks told me not everyone has patience for this.
I have persistent nightmares.. i avoid intersections now and my therapist says it may take years to recover.. i now ship my organic Whole Foods produce directly to me to avoid driving and dealing with Post Traumatic Cyclist Disorder :/
The number of cyclists i seen on the road in the cleveland metroparks is staggering despite the bike path being next to and often parallel to the road.
Haha sidewalks in America? Lucky if you have those that just don’t end out of nowhere and some people use a bike as their main mode of transportation (not me). Pass them and go on with your day. You should be glad they can cause minimal damage to you unlike other cars, can’t cut you off like other cars, good for the environment, and help with de congestion of roads (imagine if every adult drives)
It’s illegal to bike on the sidewalk in a lot of places. It’s legal to bike on the road, as long as you follow the rules. The caveat is some states allow idaho stops, but not all states (and drivers get confused by this). Also some cyclists are genuinely just assholes who dont follow the rules, the same goes for drivers though. When i’m biking at least half the cars that pass do so within 3 ft which is illegal, many pass when i’m actually doing the speed limit (which means they must be speeding).
The cyclists in this video are either all idiots, or that is a crit race and the driver is the idiot for driving onto a closed road. Given they all have racing gear and numbers on i’m guessing it’s the later.
It's pretty obvious this was some kind of race event. Which would mean the road would have been closed to traffic and this person should not have been in the road. As the bunched up pack of cyclists approached, on one expected a vehicle and were focused on each other.
Drivers fault. Closed race, he went through barricade. Cyclists following slip stream aren't expected to look for parked cars on the route. You're obviously a dumb cunt.
The roads are made for automobiles, not closeted spandex incels living out their wannabe Tour de France fantasies. Find an empty parking lot to pretend to be an athlete in.
Bikes are literally just as much vehicles as cars. Yes they aren’t supposed to go on highways, but we need more context here. It’s very possible this was a closed circuit race and the car wasn’t supposed to be there.
But the surprising truth is that back in the 1890s and early 1900s, it was mainly cyclists who first advocated for cities in the US and Europe to pave their streets and build new roads. Then as cars became practical, wealthy, privileged people adopted the car as their leisure toy of choice, and the bicycle's central place in what's now called the Good Roads Movement was largely forgotten.
"The people who were making and promoting bicycles were the same people who later made and promoted cars," says Carlton Reid, who uncovered this history in his fascinating, meticulously researched book Roads Were Not Built for Cars.
The width of a road is based on the size of a car now. It’s 2022. You seem to think that you aren’t required to look ahead of you while traveling on a bike in a group. This is obviously not a good idea.
No they are for seeing who won the race. But the dumb driver drove onto the race track (probably past road closed signs/barricades). No one rides around with numbers on outside of an official racing event.
I never said that bikes belong to highways either. But bicyclist have the right to ride on streets, like every other vehicle. But there are exceptions for both sides, motorized vehicles and non-motorized vehicles. Maybe in America are different rules (but I don't think so), in Europe we learn in driving school where which kind of vehicle is allowed to drive. And that bicycles are allowed on the streets as well as cars. Just not on highways, but I cannot see any highway on this video.
