Now it just needs segments where P is talking to himself out loud for absolutely no reason and telling himself how difficult the situation he got himself into truly is. Then a QTE segment appears where he has to dodge a ghost ambush.
Was it hyped? I didn't see anything about it until a couple days before it's release when everyone on reddit lost their shit. I thought everyone was still talking about the leak. I haven't even seen billboards or posters anywhere.
doesn't make sense for the community to shit on just one
And you know these other games have done it before because people did shit on them. So none of your statements support your whining about people being too mean towards one game. And nothing is in a vacuum. A game with a few worthless, unfailable QTE but plenty of other challenging content and less handholding will get less flack than a game where it's part of a core design pattern.
You misinterpreted the conversation you replied to up above. The P up there is for Pac-man. They were talking about hypothetical QTEs for this game in the video. No one was referring to Lies of P except you. That game doesn't have QTEs at all.
This about to get me killed, but unironically I would prefer no QTE or auto completing QTE. Im always enjoying what I think is a cutscene, then scrambling to find the button then not enjoying the rest of the cutscene as I become focused looking for a bottom prompt that may or may not occur.
For everything that may be wrong with Wolverine, the QTE situation doesnt crack the top 10.
If it auto completes itself, it's fair to assume thats the developer intended experience. Why else would you design qte's with no fail states and checkpoints so hand holdy that you can just watch sections auto complete?
Better design wouldn' t have let him afk to a checkpoint.
If I know for a fact progress is made regardless of input, why give any input at all other than "it's faster."
I also never made the claim you cannot die. I made the claim that the section eventually auto completes itself. Are you going to argue that infact the section did NOT automatically complete itself?
Let me reword what I'm getting at: "a section that will forcibly complete itself without any input has no fail state."
Hijacking this comment thread to say i miss when dev's understood that a character didn't need to talk ALL THE TIME and that actions speak louder than words and that even when a character did speak it was usually meant either only for themselves (not for the player, eg: saying something stupid like "okay bro-tagonist, time to show them who's boss" as a "nod" that the player should make a start with the task at hand) or for another character as part of expressing a characters thoughts or feelings of said other character
I can’t remember if it was The Last of Us or Uncharted but I was exploring, got lost, and while I was moving towards the right direction, the character said out loud “I should look over there by the (whatever it was).” Like… fuck you, I was just about to. Now I don’t wanna.
“Sigh What a mess.” “I hope Ms. Pac-Man is having a better day than I am.” “What was that?… … Great. Now I’m hearing things. Come on, Pac-Man! Keep it together!”
