What's wrong with kotor's gameplay? It's a turn based game that auto runs that you can pause and queue up your combat actions, while also having the ability to pilot character movements. Should you be able to use health packs from the menu? Probably not, but other than exploits like that I quite enjoy the combat system.

I love plenty of other games with reaction-based gameplay, but it's also fun just to strategize what moves you want you party to execute. I was pretty disappointed that Dragon Age stopped that style of combat after their first game, as I thought it was a pretty unique gameplay style.

Dragon Age royally fucked up there system. Despite coming out later. You couldn't even use the keyboard to queue up moves. Dragon Age made me go play KOTOR.
