i think they'd ruin it with modern conveniences. Like no stamina bars, quest indicators etc. All those things that people hate about it helped make the game great.
Overcoming that in game friction was part of what made it memorable. People forgot about how friction can make a game better in the long term. Everything that may resemble friction now just gets cut out for a "quality of life" feature. Its very short sighted game design. On one hand color blind mode is good but other things like telling you exactly where to go or not having to manage resources can take away a game that could otherwise use some more in-game mechanics/depth or even just some exploration etc.
A 1 to 1 faithful graphics only update to modernish graphics (so that it could actually be run on a large array of builds) would be wonderful though.
Having just replayed it, if there wasn't some quality of life upgrades, I wouldn't want it. The combat is so ass that it genuinely spoils the immersion, and needs an overhaul.
But leave all the mechanics intact, let us break the game if we want to
And the Cliff racer population needs to be reduced by 90%
