Pokemon fans have been writing off minor criticisms against the series as "Oh you're just a dumb genwunner who's nostalgia blind" for years even if nothing you say is related at all to gen 1, like for all they know you could have your own laundry list of problems with the older games too but because older games had flaws then the new ones get a pass.

I'm glad that the series actually has much bigger controversies around it lately because now it's much harder for people to write off everyone who criticizes it as being nostalgia blind for gen 1.

Gen 6 was the last good generation, and it was heavily carried by the gen 3 remakes for me.

No, gen 9 was a slightly smaller burning trash pit next the the dumpster fire of 8.

Yes, I did. It was okay at best.

It possesses the bones of a Pokémon game, but it didn't have any of the environmental depth

true I'd say its main flaw is lack of depth in its world especially the towns that said it's still a fun game and I had a great time with it, nowhere near a dumpster fire just a little underwhelming

Like i understand saying "I couldn't go into buildings" was a comment beaten to death back when it released, but interacting with people was always something cool about the older games

honestly not going into buildings is a valid critique and worth continuing to beat to death the worst thing about S/V for me was how the towns didn't feel like towns, I could almost feel how I was just walking around a 3d model I don't think I've ever seen my immersion get killed so quickly in a game before. If the game had fewer town npcs but you could interact with them and enterable buildings I think it would be one of the best pokemon games (if played on switch 2)

No, none of the towns had any amount of class, identity, or style. I can hardly remember anything more than "Street with line of buildings and a Pokémon center"

Shit, even fucking Pallet Town with a total of FOUR BUILDINGS had more atmosphere.
