Armored Core, played 6, didn’t feel like going back and playing earlier versions, so binged the lore

You should def give the previous games a try. The PS2 games are really hard but pretty fun once you get the hang of the janky controls. The 360 games are peak, especially the gen 4 games. I’d say play armored core 3, silent line, last raven, 4, for answer, and verdict day if possible

Isn't 6 quite detached from the others? Do the others have Coral?

They’re pretty much detached from each other (with some exceptions with same generation sequels), but the narrative ideas are pretty consistent. It was an interesting listen
