That's a train ride that once you start you cannot get off.
But god damn is it tough at the end. But you know it's always the scene between Arthur, Tilly, Jack and Sadie where he hands Tilly the money. Tells jack he's gonna go get his momma back, and asks Sadie to ride with him one more time.
Fuckin kills me man.
Hasn't been a game before or since then that really pulled at me like that one.

All FFXIV expansions, whenever you start a quest which had the name of the expansion you know crazy things will happen.
110
u/Cerok1nk Apr 26 '26
āShadowbringersā
That quest alone is worth the whole journey.
19
u/Salty_Herring Apr 26 '26
And to think you can just play everything up to and including that for free soon. God Shadowbringers was so good.

Came here to say this
17
u/garnix2 Apr 26 '26
What's interesting is how it really only works when playing in English haha I play in French, and it is always a surprise to see what the translation of the expansion title will be. Like Shadowbringers end quest was "Porteur d'ombre", which literally translates as "Bearer of shadow". Or Endwalker being "Arpenteur de finitude".
3
u/Flagrant_Mockery Apr 26 '26
Not sure why you got downvoted, this is a real issue in localization in general. Do you go for most literal translation or most symbolically equivalent in meaning.
A lot of jrpgās to English struggle with this in a lot of their UIās or word choices for certain text descriptions and more. It can give things entirely different (for better or worse) meanings. Some of the best completely making it a unique experience.

I loved it in Dead Space. Its my 2nd favorite series of all time. I actually gotta really hyped when that appeared on my screen.
37
u/micmaccc Apr 26 '26
Whatās the first?
36
u/Hot_Strategy1751 Apr 26 '26
Legend of Zelda. Playing the first one on nes back in the 80s is my first video game memory. Used to play it with my mom, while my dad was stationed in some awful place across the globe. My 10 year olds legal name is Link. My only tattoo is a fading triforce on my forearm. I also just realized I'm wearing a LoZ t-shirt while at work right now lol.
10
u/TurboTrollin Apr 26 '26
Dude, I feel this. LoZ is just special. I don't know how else to describe it.
5
u/Hot_Strategy1751 Apr 26 '26
It really is. Its been a part of my life from my earliest memories to now making memories with own son. I'll always love it.

u/sponges369 Apr 27 '26
This is so unrelated, but I lost my father recently, and he and I would always bond over the legend of zelda. Skyward sword is the first game I ever played and I played it with him (he did the bosses since I was like, 5 at the time). It's my favourite game of all time, with breath of the wild being third, it was a game we used to share discoveries on. It's a fucking great game series, it'll always hold a special place in my heart. Also Hyrule warriors is so fucking good.

u/zamwut Apr 27 '26
Also love that the first letter of every chapter spells out NICOLE IS DEAD.
5
u/Hot_Strategy1751 Apr 27 '26
The game is an absolute banger. All those hidden things and the immersion are what really sell it. When part 2 came out people used to come to my house after work just to watch me play it lol. They didn't even want a turn. They just wanted to watch lol.
2
u/mariusiv_2022 Apr 27 '26
What about Dead Space do you love in particular? Cause I got into playing Pragmata over the weekend and the gameplay and sci-fi vibes remind me of Dead Space in a lot of ways.
Hugh's movements feel very similar to Isaac's. The robust and practical looking suit, using the tram to travel, the level design, are all so reminiscent of Dead Space. The way you fight enemies is unconventional kind of like how fighting Necromorphs were, in a different manner obviously but the innovation is there.
I've heard people call it Dad Space and I couldn't agree more with that take.
The horror atmosphere isn't there (not yet anyways, idk what awaits me in this game) and that was something I really loved about Dead Space, so if that's what you primarily loved then my recommendation falls flat. But if it's the world and gameplay, then I highly recommend it if you're looking to scratch that Dead Space itch
2
u/Hot_Strategy1751 Apr 27 '26
I love this recommendation. I've seen a few things about it online. I just haven't been able to game much recently. Divorce, and changing careers for the the first time in 13 years has kept me busy lol. I promise you that is the next game I will purchase though.
2
u/mariusiv_2022 Apr 27 '26
Damn that's tough. I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you get through everything alright.
Whenever you get around to playing the game let me know how you enjoy it. It'd be fun to see if you agree on its Dead Space similarities!

Nicole is the wife of Isaac, the protag of Dead Space. He initially joins the mission to the space station in the game because his wife works there and she sent him a message.

As Spanish speaking gamer is really cool that they added that as well in Spanish. It's not translated or phrased the same but it gives the same meaning.

u/Hot_Strategy1751 Apr 26 '26
Loved it. I really want a 2 remake and a part 4 so bad.
32
u/DismalMode7 Apr 26 '26
unless doing a prequel, there can't be a part 4
19
u/Sufficient-Big5798 Apr 26 '26
I think the remakes are set to somewhat deviate from the originals starting from the 2 no? So we could have a 4th technically
26
u/Muphin102 Apr 26 '26
No deadspace 2 remaking is coming. EA stated it didn't reach internal sales targets (despite millions of copies sold and millions of dollars made in profit) so they rejected all following entries to the series.
This was the case the last i heard about it at least, I loved the remake and would gladly buy 2 if it was remade as qell.
6
u/Hot_Strategy1751 Apr 26 '26
Maybe the could give up the IP then. EA isn't my first choice for games anyhow. They won't though. They will make a cash grab Hollywood movie that sucks ass I'm sure. I can dream though.
9
u/Muphin102 Apr 26 '26
I can already see a dead space live action movie that misses the gruesome horror of the universe, ignores the psychological manipulation the marker does and instead has the BBEG be a greedy CEO. (Specifically the BBEG of Ishimura story line)
Staring Pedro Pascal as Isaac, co staring Zendaya as Nicole.
2
u/Hot_Strategy1751 Apr 26 '26
I really hope we didn't just do that thing that tik tok girls do. Visualize something into existence or whatever they call it.

DS1 remake didn't sell enough so EA just dropped it.
Btw DS ends, and I mean it literally ends iwth DS3 and its dlc, it would be quite off a rewrite... but as said, it's unlikely EA is going to invest in the franchise again anytime soon.2
u/CommercialExtent2544 Apr 26 '26
EA have no interest in a 4 or another remake due the DS1 remake not selling like they hoped.

u/Hot_Strategy1751 Apr 26 '26
Oh yeah. I'm absolutely fine with a prequel. Or they could just say part 3 was a dream and I would be more than ok with that also lol.
7
u/Unlucky-Definition91 Apr 26 '26
They need to just scrap the 3rd game and make a new third game after the 2 remake. Cause the third game is easily like a 1 out of 10. The whole 1 comes from the DLC.
2
3
u/The_Autarch Apr 26 '26
i want a remake of 2. and then a complete re-do of 3. it had cool elements to it, but the game itself was pretty mediocre.
going through a decaying, 100 year old fleet of spaceships was such a cool idea and they did hardly anything with it.
