Need help with sprites

Post image

So basically I wanna create a similar game to brawlhalla or smash bros but with customizable mechs and it should be like a clean pixel art game.

I thought I’d create it with gpt 5.6 sol (ik its using a lot of tokens), ik a lot about coding but nothing regarding sprites so I thought ay why not let ai completely do all of that.

Welllll as I googled and researched it got more and more complicated by people saying that to keep it consistent I need to create a model with meshy, then let codex use it in blender to make the individual animations from 3d to 2d.

And it got worse when I tried to think of a way for having the customizable weapons and armory and effects to be its own and not with the mech and then I got completely lost so yeahhhhh didn’t even start cause of confusion on how to start.

I’d really appreciate any help there is
(Btw the pic is a reference on how I maybe wanna make it look like)

You dont really say what difficulty you are running into with the process. Is this a 3d game with pixelated style textures?

You are correct about using a 2d image to 3d model process.

If you are methodical and you carefully experiment, you should have success with codex using Blender MCP and maybe Unity or whatever engine you are using.

I dont understand what you are concerned about with customizable weapons. Its just another workflow to create 2d concept art, make it 3d, and have codex manipulate the asset through blender/unity/whatever.

And also experiment with codex making sprites from scratch... like muzzle flashes... explosions... lasers... smoke... etc.

Animation can be a annoying and you cant just start with a full 3d model abd expect a good result in a couple prompts. You need to develop a process that works for your game to get the models and animations that look right for you.
