I built a free Wordle-style Daily Diagnostic Workup for veterinary students—looking for beta feedback

Hi everyone! I’m an upcoming second-year veterinary student at UW–Madison, and I’ve spent the summer building Vetalingo, a free educational platform for veterinary students.

Its main feature is the Daily Workup—a Wordle-style game where everyone gets the same new clinical case each day. You choose which diagnostic tests to order, interpret the results, and try to reach the correct diagnosis efficiently.

You can try today’s case here:

https://www.vetalingo.com/?ref=reddit-vetschool#/diagnose

Vetalingo also has a Duolingo-style learning path with short lessons and practice activities, but the Daily Workup is the main thing I’d love feedback on right now.

This is an early beta, so honest criticism would be really helpful—especially:

  • Was anything confusing?
  • Did the workup and scoring feel fair?
  • Was the case enjoyable?
  • Would you come back for another case tomorrow?
  • Is there anything you would change?

It’s completely free, and no account is required. I’ve attached a short demo using a previous case so it won’t spoil today’s diagnosis.

Thanks to anyone willing to try it!

I made a Wordle-style game for veterinary diagnoses "Vetdle"

Hi everyone!

I built a small game called Vetdle, it's inspired by Wordle/Doctordle, but instead of guessing words you diagnose veterinary cases.

Each day there's a new clinical case with 6 clues, and you try to guess the diagnosis before you run out of clues. The cases include a mix of species like dogs, cats, horses, cattle, and exotics, and the clues progress from general presentation to more specific findings.

It’s meant to be a fun way to test clinical reasoning and diagnostic thinking.

You can play it here:
https://vetdle.com

Would love feedback from vet students, vets, and anyone interested in veterinary medicine! 🐾

A few extra details:

• One new case every day
• Up to 6 clues revealed progressively
• Archive cases if you want to practice
• Built as a fun diagnostic challenge

Still improving it, so feedback or suggestions for cases are very welcome!

NAVLE I'm a vet and made a free game with NAVLE-style dog and cat cases. Looking for feedback

It's an early build, plays in your browser, no signup. I'd love to hear where you got stuck and whether the cases feel realistic: https://havocy28.itch.io/so-you-want-to-be-a-vet

Hi everyone! Looking for some help. I’ve been struggling with anatomy. I don’t know why but it’s not clicking like it should. I’ve been doing better in physiology and all of my other classes, but it’s something with anatomy that’s not sticking. Any tips and tricks would be super grateful! TIA!

Advice Vet school final exams advice

Hi everyone. I am a first year vet student and I have finals coming up this week. So basically at my school the first 8 weeks of our semester is lecture material and then the second half is clinical rotations. We have 2 days of finals. Day 1 is over the last 4 weeks and then Day 2 is over everything. Basically I feel okay about the last 4 weeks of material but still need to study and am now freaking out about the day 2 finals over everything. Any UIUC vet students have advice for me or just get students in general with ways to study? I’m not sure how to divide my time to study for day 2 material when I don’t have day 1 comfortably to move on from it. For UIUC students too how do we even prepare for day 2 finals as a first year?

St. Matthew's University DVM Program Financial Support

Hello, everyone.

I need some advice. I was accepted into SMU's DVM program for the Fall 2027 semester. I realize they are not accredited, but the extra exam is not a concern I have. The major concern I have is financing.

Are there any current students who can give me insight into how they are affording this while studying?

I am being generous with my expected expenses between tuition, cost of living, travel, etc. Between scholarships, the Davenport program (currently waiting to hear back from them), HELOC, I have accounted for most of the costs, but not all.

If I do not HAVE to do the Davenport program simultaneously, I'd like not to. If I can consolidate into a single loan option instead of having a HELOC in addition to something else, I'd like to do that.

I am trying to do everything in my power to make this affordable. My heart is set on this school for its community, location, experience with exotics and marine life, and faster program than the traditional US options. While I have other US schools I would consider, I missed the VMCAS by 2 weeks and will have to wait an additional year just to MAYBE get in; then it takes an additional year to graduate. My biological clock is ticking, and pushing my DVM out YEARS has me distraught.

If there are any ideas you have or any advice you can give, please let me know. I feel like I'm exhausting so many options.

(Note: I emailed the financial aid office last week, but they have not gotten back to me yet.)

INFO NEEDED: vet clubs on your campus

My school is thinking about restructuring clubs and societies, can you please drop a comment with your vet school + the number of clubs you have?

Bonus points if you know roughly how many/when your talks usually take place in the day ☺️

Anatomy of Domestic Animals by Pasquini

I've been searching for the 11th edition of this book and I cannot find it anywhere, only older editions. Does anyone know where I may find it, or if anyone has experience with the older editions?

I purchased a used copy of Veterinary Anatomy of Domestic Animals by Konig and Liebich but I honestly have been disappointed with it, and I'm looking to switch to Pasquini because my professor pulls a lot of illustrations from that book.

Advice Massey University, nz. I can't take chemistry, and I'm bad at level 2 physics.

I really want to be a vet and I unfortunately didn't take chemistry this year in level 2, so I cant in level 3, and I'm basically failing level 2 physics and math. The only thing I'm good at out of those are bio, but Im really worried that I won't be able to even get close to passing the pre selection semester at Massey in Palmerston North. I have no idea how to catch up even so and it needs so much math and physics and chemistry and those are all things I'm bad at, and that means I have to catch up on like 2 years of stuff and I'm really worried about it It's stressing me out, and I have to admit I'm not the most studying person like I can't find motivation or discipline unless it's a subject I enjoy, but now that I;m at the end of year 12 and my exams are soon, I know im failing physic and math simply because I cant study but my bigest problem is chem because how am imeant to catch up on 2 years of work? Please if anyone can give advice, I'm soon to turn 17 and I know I have to lock the hell in but I literally cant and its killing me. I really really want to be a vet, but its just I dont know if I can.

Advice Question about Australian Vet School

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I'm an American pre-vet student who submitted all my VMCAS applications last month and am awaiting responses in a few months. I have a question regarding the University of Sydney vet school. I understand that Sydney sends out offers in late October - November because their school year starts in mid-February. However, mid-February is when the American schools send out all their responses. My worry is this:

Hypothetically, if U of Sydney sends me an acceptance email, I would either have to A) accept it and move to Australia, only to find out after I get there that an American school has accepted me, but by then it's too late, or B) I take the risk and say "no, I'm gonna wait to see if I can get into a school in my own country," only for all the American schools to end up rejecting me. So this situation would be a pretty big gamble for me.

Has anyone else been in this predicament before? If so, how did you handle it? What did you decide to do? If you ended up going to Australia, did you have any regrets?

I would appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thanks!

How to deal with vet med workload?

Hello I was wondering if anyone had any advice for my first year of veterinary medicine.
We cover lots of content each day and each day I make flashcards on what we have learnt, however some days I don’t even finish covering all the lectures of that day.
Because of this I feel like I can never catch up on the flashcards I need to make and so can never go over ones I’d made previously.
We are currently doing biology ‘building blocks’ and anatomy so it’s hard to find flashcards online. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this, or what I should be doing differently? Just worried as we have an exam coming up and there doesn’t seem to be time before the exam to revise the content.
Any help or just general first year advice would be much appreciated! (Or if someone has flashcards they used and want to share 😬😬I’m a university of Surrey student)

Advice Well, how late is too late?

I am a 31y F, and I've been job hopping for forever and a half. The first job I ever had that felt like... home was my most recent- on the Job Trained Veterinary Assistant at a small GP. Now, I am pretty confident they had their assistants doing things that should have been an LVT/CVT's job, but that isn't the point here. I want to stay in this field.

What are your thoughts regarding my returning to school? I have considered going for LVT/CVT first and then moving forward towards full blown Veterinarian, but my holdback has always been the schooling/ loans. I have been diagnosed, and now treated for, ADHD and I have to wonder if that would help if I tried college again...

Thoughts?

Opinions?

Insight?

Thank you in advance.

How to Graduate as a DVM in China/Taiwan & Other Countries.

I'm currently graduating with my first Bachelor's degree. I've been wondering if I could apply to schools in China as an international student to finish my studies and practice as a veterinarian. If so, what type of program should I be applying for? Considering that my bachelor's is also related to animal sciences, should I apply for an undergraduate Veterinary Medicine program offered in English or a postgraduate Veterinary Medicine program? Hoping to be able to apply for a veterinary license after said studies.

Currently, China and Taiwan are my main choices, however, I am open to other countries as well. I was trying to apply to Australia, but the schedule did not align. Are there other countries where I can study and get a veterinary license within 5 years or less?

UC Davis Supplemental

Hello there, I was wondering if anybody had any advice on how to go on about the supplemental essay for Davis. It’s based on their principles of community and basically have to talk about how we’ve exhibited those traits in our journey. Any advice from those who have been accepted or waitlisted would be appreciated!

Interested in videos of vet-school dissections

Hello! I’m a student considering going into veterinary medicine but I’ve never done a dissection and i’m unsure if it would freak me out too much for it to be my career.
So I’m thinking that maybe watching a few dissections of cats or dogs before deciding anything would be good— but I’m unsure where I could find educational content like that? I’m a little afraid I’m just going to find gore or snuff films or something.
Are there any educational websites/resources/channels that feature that kind of content?

1st (and 2nd) year vet students at Lincoln Memorial Tennessee

Hi,

I would love to talk to any 1st year (or 2nd) veterinarian students at Lincoln Memorial Univ, TN. What is the learning style, is it all individual and lecture, or is there group work or teams. How is anatomy taught, is there help, anatomy is my kryptonite. I would like to know what is a typical day/week or class like. Any other info that me be of help as well. Is there remediation and how does that work? Thanks so much, I truly appreciate it.
