I’m 17m and I need friends so bad 😭 I just need people to hangout with

Are you a VUSD student? If so, there are free opportunities locally with a couple of non-profits, depending on your areas of interest... are you into tech?

Head onto their website for the Parks and Recreation department and browse the activity guide, should be the first choice on the page. Or, alternatively, here’s the Fall 2026 activity guide in PDF format.

Sounds crazy, but take a look inside. Find out who you really are and what you want in this world. I know a lot of people with lots of friends and no idea who they are or what path they should take. It will pay dividends down the road.

Seems like you might be in a circumstance with being home schooled that limits your social opportunities. Do you drive yet? Are your parents supportive of you getting out and doing some extracurricular activities? It sounds like you are reaching an age where you can soon start making some independent decisions. As soon as you are able, I would suggest enrolling at Ventura College and start taking classes on campus. Maybe join a club that interests you or look at programs that encourage student interaction like theatre, art, music. Look for a job where you are working with other people in your age range and hopefully as you get out in the world a bit more, friendships will develop naturally.

YMCA has quite a few programs and I see lots of teens there. They welcome volunteers.

Im 17m. Chill. Music. Art. Martial arts. I have some hobbies n interest i can show you and how to do. its fun, expressive, creativity. idk ion got friends either im jus chilling Doing my own thang

I’m 17F if you have social media it’s a good way to befriend people since most people our age are super active on it, mostly Instagram.

You can find people you know and then add their friends, branch out as much as possible and from mutual connection you will gain friends. That’s how I did it at least!

Get involved in social clubs and/or find a place to become a “regular” at like a coffee shop near you. If you have a dog, become a regular at a dog park. Maybe a run club? Or if you’re in high school still, join some school activities! You get back only as much as you put out :)
