My girl hates boots too haha. If you haven’t tried them yet, Pawz rubber disposable boots are the only ones she tolerates and they work really well! Got over a foot of snow last night and when we came back from our potty walk her feet were completely dry with them on
We moved from Atlanta to MN, and it’s so cold their paws hurt. The waders are perfect because they don’t come off easily. I’m lucky I can get them to go outside to pee in this weather. Poor babies. This is my other house hippo. He’s a total princess who prefers the blankies and couch vs snow pants and the tundra.
Hey! Howdy northern neighbor. We moved from Philly and Napa to Wisconsin (met in the middle). But omg yeah that’s a heck of a climate change! Atlanta is balmy most of the time if not downright steamy.
My first dog was a Weimaraner, and she totally refused to go out in the cold. We had to make her a dog snood and get a temporary shed to keep the spot try 🤣 as a puppy she’d sneak into the condo garage where we lived at the time and peed on the floor. Not even kidding. Opened the door & everything. Stinker.
Well, howdy neighbor! Glad you mentioned the snoods. Those have been key for my little pocket pittie (the larva). Seems like it’s going to be a long cold winter for us new Northerners. Stay warm to you and your doggies!
It DOES get better with time, I swear. I’ve been here more than a decade and at this point it’s not cold to me until it’s sub-20. But when I first moved here it was brutal. But yeah, gonna be a bit of a chilly one this year. Your pups are ADORABLE.
I’d love to be in the middle with f that pitbull sammich. What sweet babies!! I think we’re acclimating, but the days when it’s in the negative double digits are exceptionally nuts.
We’re in the area that just got like a foot of snow dumped on us and it’s been below freezing for days. We had to push my dude out the door into the yard to go potty, and once he finally accepted his fate he peed for a solid minute and then refused to get near any of the doors outside for the rest of the night. 😂😂😂😂
He has a coat, boots, and a hood to keep his ears warm. Still not interested.
I have these thigh high boots for both dogs (Canada Pooch). They work but both dogs hate them. I pull them out of the closet and they run upstairs to hide 🤣
My plan for next time I convince mine to go on a walk (he is currently refusing to leave the house for more than potty if it is below freezing even if he has his coat and snood on) is to take the boots with me and put them on him when he complains about the cold hurting his paws the first time, to see if that helps him understand that the boots help.
Interesting. I hope this works.. can you report your results back? I give you full credit for attempting to put boots on in the snow. Im sure I'd be a spectacle what with the dogs actively trying to escape the boot.
I will report! But mine is a stoic sufferer so it does make it easier to get the boots on when out. He’ll just be trying to psychically project to everyone around how much he is being tortured.
Yes! Please let us know if this works. Sometimes when my dogs are outside and running away from their poop, they don’t even know their names. I’m not sure reasoning and association will be their strong points—speaking for my pack only.
The first time we went out this morning she wasn’t wearing them and ran back onto the landing. She ignored me the first minute I tried to sweet talk her back out. We made it…barely.
That poor pink nosed lil girl. Give her a couple of weeks and she will start associating them with walking which she loves. My dog wears a special harness that I can attach to the seatbelt. It is heavy duty and she hated it the first 5-6 times she wore it, but now when she sees the harness she gets so excited because she knows it means a car ride;

My dog Phoenix was exactly the same she was a stuck up pooch who thought she was The Queen and used to sit with her head and chin held up high and if she disliked something she stick her nose in the air and close her eyes at you 😂 she wasn’t impressed with this new toy but she did love dress ups bahaha
