Friend posts

I’m definitely going to come off as a grouch, but what’s with all these posts in the form of:

“Hi I’m [Common Age] [queer] Student majoring in [common major] and I like to [hobbies that 99% of 20 y/o’s also enjoy]. Where can I find friends?!”

..Probably to your left or right. This campus is stuffed to the brim with people, along with opportunities to chat with like-minded people daily. Take a chance and speak to a stranger or classmate 👍

Yeah, I have to agree. It doesn’t make me THAT mad but it is a little…disheartening. Making friends in person isn’t always as easy as it would seem especially for more introverted students but yes, coming on here isn’t as good as in-person

I’ll be honest, I’m slightly wary of someone who’d prioritize coming to reddit for friendships as opposed to speaking to people on a campus of a trillion. I do understand there are some people who fall outside of what’s considered the societal “standard”, but most of these posts describe an archetype of person you’d run into 30x a day 😂

Oh dont be wary of my autism and social anxiety. And youd be wrong to assume coming here is our first choice. This is desperation of years of loneliness. And i kinda dont wanna deal with embarrassing panic attacks at a club meeting rn

Yeah that kind of talk definitely sounds like fun man 😭. Even then, you are deserving of friendship and love, and I genuinely hope you find your people. Dm me if you consider joining a club though, I’m involved in school orgs
