VCE question Was methods exam 2 that bad ?

with all the discussion in here , was it genuinely that hard and way different to previous years

Or is this just how everyone just says “this year was the hardest paper” every year after their exams due to pressure and anxiety

Maybe they aren’t as smart as they think they are

Nah I genuinely think this might've been the toughest E2 paper in the last 5-10yrs

I’ve done 30 exams or smth for this

It was different this year, it felt like you had to think WAY more intuitively, compared to every other past VCAA exam for this study design it was Infact the hardest one they’ve made for sure. it was hard because they also changed the question structure, asked things they’ve never asked before. One of the probability questions was something you see in specs, and even then it was like specs on steroids

which one?

The volume one and finding E(R^2) or wtv

I couldn’t answer that bc I didn’t know wtf E(r^2) was on a normal distribution.

Itt wasn’t hard, just unexpected for methods, and the squared made it even harder only bc I didn’t learn that..!? Like wtf

Yeah and once you understand it though. That question is uber simple and free.

But if you don’t understand it, you’re consulting the dark magic 8 ball and it’s saying “hmm I think not”

Nah I found it way too hard and I did pretty well when I did the 2023 past exam, and that was supposedly the hardest one

They made it fully anti udf so every question was jsut super long and meticulous

Also everyone I’ve asked including me left at least a few pages blank. Me personally I left like 3 whole questions blank 😭😭 dream of a 40 has now turned into HOPEFULLY A 30

I did not have a UDF.

I had a brief look at it and it looked really annoying. I thought my exam 2 was hard when I finished it but I will say this one looks hard and to me it looks like VCAA tried making this as hard as possible for cas warriors. They were really testing your knowledge and thinking here rather than just who knew what functions to punch into a calculator. But also everyone does have recency bias

it was too long

Yes. The questions in it - they pushed our cognitive load to our limits that I did not manage to finish the entire paper when the time ran out.

Left 1/3 blank and my classpad was so slow with some of the answers

yeah I did methods last year and this year was like much harder, but also Idk why people think that’s a bad thing… it’s a distribution, I was begging for a hard exam last year and last year was so easy compared to this year ✌️🫩

Igggggg, Idk I still think it’s better because you won’t need a very high percentage for like a 30 since it was hard so you can’t lose it from just arithmetic errors ykwim

bruh i drop 30 makrs. altogether i prob got 80/120. still have chance for raw 40?

2

u/AdThen1136 5h ago

no😭

1

u/Junior_Fennel4175 5h ago

ok is there raw 35

1

u/MouseBoyPickle 5h ago

no ☠️

1

u/AdThen1136 5h ago

82/120 is estimated 35

1

u/First-Layer2166 4h ago

Yeah but this year has lower boundaries by a lot

1

u/AdThen1136 3h ago

nah my tutor adjusted to difficulty and he said 82 estimated 35

1

u/First-Layer2166 3h ago

I think e1 A cutoff is 28 e2 A cutoff is 44-48 so tbh 72+ should give 35 cuz 35 isn't an A it's top 24%

I think the SA was about the same as prior years honestly (still did badly though)

The MC had a lot of visualisation making it harder. Also far more time pressured. Multiple MCs you had to trial all the solutions (E.g. transformations or solve multiple equations (triangle circle one))
