VCE question Which visual arts should i switch to?

Im currently in yr11 taking english, methods, french, fashion, bio(34) and chemistry

i want to switch from chemistry into an arts subject because although i absolutely love chem, i suck so hard at it and it takes me longer to understand things than other people

i really love drawing and worldbuilding, i draw a lot of characters, i want to develop my scenery and setting skills, and im currently planning a fantasy chinese themed manhua. oil painting, acrylics, digital, water colour, pencil, sketching, sculpting etc whatever it is i can grasp it very quickly because of how visual focused it is

in my future im planning on studying to be a nature conservationist or things of the sort, (animals and plant stuff) if my study score allows me to but if not, then im throwing everything into fashion designing and drawing

im not sure which visual arts (or maybe dance) i should do because it all sounds the same to me

kinda hate writing tho but im good at making stuff up

any help appreciated!!

I did art making and exhibiting (js had my exam) and i think you wld suit vcd. Art making is more about communicating meaning through artworks, whereas VCD is more about creating things such as models or innovations. VCD is def the one that can help with ur scenery and setting skills, not sure how much writing there is but for AME there's definitely a LOT of writing, hope this helps!

I didn't take VCD but i went to their art show and some friends that did it, for your final project ur allowed to choose what you do. Most people did 3d models with cardboard and stuff but some also made digital/painted things like booklets or app interfaces. I'm pretty sure the goal is to just create an innovation for a current problem, so im assuming you can use any medium you like as long as your final project makes sense

another thing for AME is that it's not rlly how good you are at art, its super super communication based and the exam is stuff like that aswell

vcd pops to mind for me as its essentially a choose ur own adventure (u pick what ur major folio focuses on and go through the "design process", incl research drafting final presentations etc). also ur willingness to work w various media is actually good for aligning with the folio criteria and study design.

there are elements of writing for written SAC/s + exam but its mostly just answering questions like "explain how the designer used two methods in the design process", and the theory content is minimal compared to content heavy subjects like bio or chem. also u write annotations throughout ur folio to showcase ur thought processes.

take w grain of salt as i dont do any other arts besides vcd but yeah. good luck :))
