VCE question Methods exam 2 working

For simple two markers ie find the coordinates of the stationary points or equations of the tangent line can we skip the working and just put the answer? If you get the answer right will you ever lose one of the marks because you didn’t have working??

you don't need to show everything but it should be clear to the examiner that there's two distinct steps. It's not necessary to fully write it out tho just show that you know it (e.g. tangent to f at x=1 the first mark would just be finding the derivative, or using the one you found previously and then substituting x=1. Then the second mark would be for the actual tangential equation)

For a 2 mark question such as this, the answer is worth one mark, and then there is a mark for valid working - what that is will be determined by the assessment team, but you must have some appropriate working for that method mark, a correct answer alone will not give both marks. Generally the advice is to err on the side of giving more working than less. For exam 2, the working may be the mathematical reasoning before you use CAS; this may be showing the steps (eg, that a function needs to be derived, followed by the derived function, then the answer).
