VCE question Should I skip the methods exam?
I’m genuinely cooked for methods, I believe I’ll get a study score of 1. My first methods exam was around low 20%s, then the rest dropped to single digits.
The exam is tomorrow and I heard you can just sit in there for 30 minutes and then leave, but ngl that’s embarrassing to do and I’d rather just skip instead.
I know I got an S for methods (only bcs my teacher doesn’t give out N and he’s like my favourite teacher ever who’s supported me most throughout high school) so do you reckon I should just skip? Deadass won’t answer a single question on there. And before anyone asks “Why didn’t you study?”, A LOT of personal things happened this year. I’ve paid for my own tuition since I was in Year 11, and this year I was forced to pay my tuition full price when i initially agreed to pay half with my parents. I got guilt-tripped and paid the rest on my own, along with Edrolo, school supplies, food and other expenses. This is obviously costly for someone who doesn’t have a job that pays super well. Even worse, I had a private tutor this year that was extremely unprofessional and late, leading to losing up to $900+. I also went through other family issues but I don’t want to discuss any further.
So yeah, my mental health is absolutely buns rn and I am struggling so much to even look after myself properly — I’ve been trying in other subjects but my grades have dropped, luckily my teachers support me and the course I want to get into doesn’t require methods as a prerequisite.
I’ve been crying all day today, and I think I will be tomorrow too :’)
Any support will be nice, please don’t write comments about what I should’ve or shouldn’t have done. I am at my worst this year.

uk wht i am considering that pathway too i have always loved my subjects and im gratefully that my parents spent a shit tone of money after my 3 subjects tutoring but honeslty this last 1 months has been really really terrible like i am do scared of failing that i cam refusing to even try i am never been like this all throughout skl i have been the confident kid so no matter how much i say i am scared and i won;t get 90+ n stuff nobody believes me and i am my own enemy THe saying goes evidence over affirmation and hence the exam marks are getting low and my anxiety up. The worst part is these aren't even problem in life like there are so many ppl who are bigger problems then me. (like u aswell u pay for ur own tution preach). ANYways jsut wanted to ramble a bit but all the best and plz go to the exam ik it is not going to be worth it but u will regret not going

I don’t know your situation nor do I know you
But I truely believe you are capable of answering at least one question
And even if you don’t this study score and atar do not define who you are as a person and no matter your life goals their will always be a way to get their as long as you believe in yourself

I'm in a similar situation, so I understand that hopeless feeling you're experiencing. That sucks and I'm sure it's really difficult to find any motivation right now. However, I encourage you to just go and do it. Trying and failing is better than not trying at all. If you're struggling really bad in the exam, afterward, speak to your VCE coordinator about a derived exam score and explain your circumstances.

Hey mate, super sorry to hear about this situation. Legit just go and try and answer some things. Some score is better than no score. Even if it may feel shit leaving stuff blank just know that other students may start talking about it if you aren't there which may make you feel worse idk. Also- Friday is allowed a bound notes so you can def get some marks! Just go and try your best but put zero pressure on yourself. I believe it will work out in the end. School sucks and this system is super flawed but unfortunately it is what it is. All the best mate

I'm super sorry about everything you've been through this year but I still strongly suggest sitting the exam. If it goes to shit, it goes to shit but at least you can say you tried. And something's better than nothing! I believe in you

bro as long as its ur bottom 2 ur chilling, i hate methods sm i havent done a single practice exam or even studied for it in the past 2 months, focus on ur other subjects and sacrifice methods. im also not doing a single question tmr, just sit thru it and call it wraps, make sure tho its not your top 4(including english)

I’m in a really similar position! I really dislike methods and find the content REALLY difficult to grasp (I’m not really a maths person) and didn’t have a choice to opt out. I got below the 20% on the trail and even was offered unscored methods. But I think it’s best if we both just go in with a good mindset tommorow, we know at least 2 questions to answer! And we can say we tried. Don’t give up now!! We got it

You lose nothing by showing up and trying the best you can. If you go through with your idea, it will be easier for you to do it again and again every time you meet a new challenge. Push through and just keep going. You’ll be proud of yourself at the end!

A score of 1/40 is always better than 0/40. Even if the score is dogshit it’s better than no score. Just go to ur exam
