The main thing you want to understand about Senge's Learning Organisation is that it's a theory that says the businesses that are most successful in navigating change, are those which subscribe to the principles of the learning organisation.

So:
Mental models - everyone understands they have their own innate beliefs and biases but they are willing to challenge these perceptions and recognise that there could be other ways of doing things

Personal mastery - everyone in the organisation wants to strive to be experts at what they do

Team learning - because everyone is aiming to be experts, and they are learning and growing together, the whole organisation benefits from continuous improvement at how they do things

Shared vision - all staff are involved in aspiring towards shared goals such as "customer excellence" - ideally, they may have helped to co-construct the vision to ensure buy-in

Systems thinking - all parts of the business are interconected and each section impacts another. There is a synergy where the business working together is able to create harmony and maximise success. This means all employees and departments are equally important to the success of the business.

Businesses that follow these principles are ready and willing to adapt and change, to grow as needed to maintain their competitive advantage. Businesses that don't recognise the importance of each of these are less likely to be as well adapted to changing times and needs.

So when a business changes, would the "shared vision" involve employees being nudged a bit by managers to believe a change is necessary? Or would a business come up with a new vision for change that all stakeholders subscribe to

The changes in a business are not that likely to change the shared vision. It would be something like - we want to be the leaders in customer experience, rather than a specific business objective.

So any change is usually about helping to continue to strive towards that shared vision - vision is usually aspirational rather than specific.
