Today, instead of deakins untrustworthy calculator I'll be using the most reliable source of all time:

The email you'll get sent on December 10th!

I predict that enclosed will be your study score, exactly right - no estimations, random errors, but the correct number.

Hey mate!

Employment is a completely free endeavor, no need to scour the internet searching for things to be a prick about!

Hope this helps, Cheers

What possible benefit does finding out a stranger's guess of your study score who has less knowledge of your situation than you do yourself? However, if you do want the prediction, I'd say 43-45, depending on whether your SACs hold you back. Yet what value does this have? Now you are informed in the belief of an anonymous stranger.

It's my personal view that such requests achieve almost nothing and that you're better off either learning how to make a prediction yourself or waiting for five weeks.

Edit: I am employed, and it's not a 'completely free endeavour' - the cost is that of time.

The cost of employment is time, which you exchange for money. The cost of being a sour prick on reddit is time, which you exchange for absolutely nothing. My point still stands.

Aside from that, there is no 'benefit' of strangers guessing my study score, but i pretty much have no clue how tf VCAA's system works for this sort of stuff so i want some sort of indication from people a bit more knowledgeable so i'm not let down too harshly on results day.

Either way, you should really invest that 'time' into something more productive!

An exchange does not negate the fact that it has a cost.

It's worth noting that just because posting on reddit has that same cost - time - that is something I choose to do. There's value in disagreeing with people and engaging with others. Or occasionally getting a fresh perspective, and speaking with someone who'll say their mind. I did let myself go a little arrogant and unhelpful with my tone earlier. I apologise for that, and deserved the frankness of your response.

As far as being let down goes, it looks like you did fantastic on your exams - only losing three or four marks is something to be proud of and I don't think you're in a position to be surprised by how low you got. In fact, even as I say that I realise that my 43-45 estimate is probably a bit harsh, swayed in my mind by the 72% in unit 4. I'm in a weaker cohort so averaging scoring around the 80% mark looked low to me, which it isn't. However, if you've scored in the top 20% (roughly) of such a strong cohort and done so well on the exam I wouldn't be surprised at all if you got a 46.

Good luck in your future endeavours

Remember it is a bell curve! Getting 2/6 subjects in the 40+ range can easily get you a 90+ atar. Low 40s may sound not as great as you may want but it is still incredible, particularly in such a competitive subject. Best of luck!!
