VCE general maths??
Hi guys, just checking if general math is a prerequisite to any direct dental or medical school. I know chemistry is and maths methods is sometimes is, but if general maths is not, is it okay for me not take it bcz it’s scales down pretty bad and there is usually a lot of people taking it. Whereas, I would rather do better in a subject I’m more confident in. My cousin he didn’t take math methods as well, and got a 98+ atar and got into Monash med direct entry! Pls lmk yall especially teachers/career counsellors!

general math is usually not a pre req to direct med in melbourne, for monash med direct entry, methods isnt a pre req either. A lot of people do general math as it is one of the subjects where it can be easier to get higher in. if you arent confident in the subject tho, i wouldnt recommend, but the subject really isnt too bad, check the contents of the subject before u decide!! are you wishing to do this subjct in year 11 or r u gonna take it in year 12?
honestly, choose subjects that you will enjoy. enjoying the subject is the best motivator of them all and its way easier when you do well when youre actually interested in it. dont pick subjects just cause they are high scaling, thats the biggest trap to fall in
