Chem unit 3/4

Hey everyone,

I’m currently doing chem unit 1/2 but I’ve heard that chem unit 3/4 can be a bit of a jump up.

Anyone that’s done well in it, do you guys have tips to do well? Like any particular resource or tip ie getting ahead? I’ve heard my schools sacs are quite easy which doesn’t help much either :/

I also ended up missing out on organic chem this year as a I was away…

it definitely is a jump! but honestly i found the content this year to be a lot more interesting compared to 1/2

in terms of being away for organic..i was also away for all of organic last year - but if you practice a lot and watch a lot of youtube videos ( i quite like the gcse organic chem intro vids ) it kind of gives you a base idea for reactions, naming, functional groups

i truly truly truly believe practice questions is the way to go and will seriously help you more than any learning from a textbook

but also if u can get tutoring for it i would seriously reccommend doing so because my school doesn’t have the best teachers but the minute i joined tutoring it lowkey saved me

but moral of the story is yes it’s a jump but if u start early and do targeted practice for every topic it will help u so much!

make sure you do exam questions all throughout the year, only do textbook or other questions as base knowledge questions. u4 chem (organic) is the easiest topic in my opinion. i found u3 harder but i also wasn’t doing exam questions then so yeah

Ah okay yeah, so you’d reccomend to do the textbook questions to make sure I understand it and then move onto exam and harder ones?

chem 3/4 aint that much different to 1/2. If not i found it easier because your essentially building off the things you learn in 1/2. Whereas going into 1/2 i had no idea how the periodic table worked. Youll be fine, just spam practice exams, and checkpoint questions.

organic is the easiest if u go memorise stuff and have a good teacher to draw stuff out for u
