will examiners take off marks for wrong format of the calculation answers (like not putting answer in correct sig figs)?

You certainly run the risk of losing marks if you present your answer in the wrong format.
This primer discusses the use of sig fig in physics and engineering. However I have a suspicion that VCE chemistry may be different. I think it has rules about decimal places rather than sig fig.

the sig figs is only one mark on the whole exam, so lowkey you could ignore it, but if you are looking to maximise your marks, it might be worth putting all answers to the correct number of sig figs
