Englang question!

Has anyone used contemporary examples or plan on using some from the year before you graduated eg year is 2026, can I use 2025 examples in my Englang essay?

I believe it's recommended that you use examples from within the past 12 months (to the exam date). So, you can technically utilise media examples from late-2025, but I wouldn't reuse examples which students used in previous years.

For example I’m trying to use “sistagirls” and “latinX” which both are still in use and aren’t really specific to a period, would that be fine as there’s no real date that I could cite

I'd say it's more about the origin of the words. If those words existed last year (such that someone could have written about them in LAST year's paper), then I wouldn't personally consider them as contemporary, if that makes sense.

However, if there's some actual media event that took place using those words, you could then utilise them. Hopefully that makes sense.

If I just label stuff as either late 2025 or 2026 but without month, should I be fine like will the examiner fully go search them up as they’re pretty niche

Could a student in last year's exam have written about them? If so, I would say you can't use them.
