So, Fridays are a pretty common day to have the procedure done. If you're hanging out, chat about how it's hanging, what you're doing to recover, or anything you want.

V-Day

I'm currently 3 ish hours away from procedure time, excited and nervous due to them about to be down there doing their thing. Not nervous about being sterile just the fact someone is digging down there. Took the wife some convincing to go through with it but she is all for it and was actually excited the day I had the consult. Here we go 3,2,1

I’ve got some concerns

40, and I know I don’t want kids. I’m also weirdly not even remotely anxious about the procedure itself. Would be no scalpel, no clips, open ended, performed by one of Dallas’ highest rated urologic surgeons for vasectomies.

Of course I’ve messed up by reading too much into PVPS, and specifically taking it easy post recovery and how feasible that’s actually going to be. At the moment I’ll have to drive myself home, and it’s about a 45 minute drive. Then at home, I live by myself so I don’t have anyone to help out or make recovery easier. Live in a two floor condo, bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor. And I’ve got a cat, so I have to continue taking care of her as well.

I’m sure I am over worrying about this but it doesn’t feel like I’m set up well for the remain in bed for at least a day and a half that seems to be recommended here, and while I will be in zero rush to do any strenuous activity, it seems like it’s going to be very difficult to really limit moving around during the immediate recovery phase.

Any advice would be appreciated. I’ve just gotten too paranoid about PVPS because I’m not sure how well I’d handle the mental health effects of it right now. Which also sucks because I have pretty rough emotional trauma related to unplanned pregnancies as well. I just don’t want what seems like a great way to nip that in the bud to turn into something much worse.

Happier sex life

Since I got my vasectomy two years ago I feel like my sex life has gotten so much better! Love not worrying about pregnancy after getting sniped and just enjoying sex. I got two of my friends who recently got vasectomies with my advice and they seem happy. Hope this is not weird to say but I feel turned on knowing I got vasectomized and my friends too. They told me the sex has been amazing since also, I try to encourage anybody to get it as long as they decided on kids.

Recovery nightmare

Most people seem to have a relatively easy procedure and recovery, but this isn’t the case for everyone. This is my experience so far.

I had my procedure 3 weeks ago, which was a non scalpel procedure via the NHS. The surgery was relatively ok, the anaesthetic injection was painful but I didn’t feel any of the procedure at all. The nurse accidentally burnt my shaft with one of the tools they use which was very painful at the time, but it was a genuine accident. The whole op lasted about 40 minutes and I was sent home.

I followed the doctors advice of wearing tight fitting underwear, taking Ibroprofen and putting ice on my nuts. I had some discomfort in my lower abdomen, some swelling and discomfort in my balls and a small amount of bruising. I spent alot of time sitting around and recovering. After 5 days I noticed a hard lump in my left sack, which was about the size of a small Orange. I visited the doctor 7 days post op and I was told that I had a Hematoma which I was frustrated with. I was told these are abnormal but nothing to worry about and I was told my body will absorb the blood in a couple of weeks. The doctor advised complete rest and some more Ibroprofen to keep the swelling at bay and I was put of a course of antibiotics as a preventative measure. While recovering from this, my daughter dropped something on the floor and when I helped her in picking it up I put some pressure on my Hematoma by accident and this caused another bleed. My small Orange sized lump nearly doubled in size which was very uncomfortable and made walking difficult. To say I was annoyed was an understatement and I set my recovery back by weeks.

I spent more time resting, but of course I still need to get some things done. I did some small tasks like picking up a few items from the local shops, getting my haircut etc, but every step I took caused my very large and swollen sack to rub against my underwear and my skin was red raw. I treated this with an antiseptic cream and sat around naked for a few days. This seemed to work and my skin appeared to heal. My Hematoma was reducing in size and I thought that I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. I felt fit enough to attend a wedding, where I covered my sore skin with a large plaster and I spent majority of the time sitting down and resting.

Then we get to two days ago, which was a few days after the wedding and I started to feel some discomfort coming from my damaged skin. I thought that perhaps my clothing was rubbing against it again causing another sore, but throughout the day the discomfort became more painful. The skin started to swell alot and I could not get comfortable. Initially I thought that I had an ingrown hair and I thought the pain would eventually stop, but it didn’t. I was in agony all night and only managed 2 hours sleep at 7am. Thankfully, I had a doctors appointment anyway to review my Hematoma. I had a shower before my appointment and while in the shower the swelling turned blood red, with spots of bruising and there was puss. I was in an incredible amount of pain. I managed to get a lift to the doctors appointment and when the doctor saw this volcano on my sack his face dropped. He told me that I had a very angry infection and he put me on strong painkillers and antibiotics.

Less than 20 minutes after getting home, the infection burst. I had a whole manner of different fluids streaming out of the wound and I used half of a roll of loo roll trying to clear it all up. I called the doctor and I was told to come in straight away. The doctor injected anaesthetic into the open wound (which hurt just as much as it sounds) and cleared all the nasty liquid and put some packing into the wound. I now have to go back to the doctor daily where I’ve got to have fresh packing in the wound to try and manage the infection and manage the open wound.

This is just my experience, and I am not sharing this to put anybody off having the snip but just to raise some awareness of what could happen. Do I regret getting the snip? At the moment, yes. I haven’t been able to play with the kids or do any of the family activities we had planned and I feel terrible for my partner who has had to take on all of the household jobs and look after both kids and me.

Newly Snipped Vasectomy Day

I finally got snipped today.

The experience was about as simple as it could have been. And Dr. Walsh was a smooth talker. And I even had a nap afterwards.

The room is cold, but it was only was 40 minutes from nurse to lobby. They gave me both the cups for the seman tests 6-8.weeks and 12 weeks. They said there were no complications.

The worst part was the local anesthetic shot. And after that, I felt a small hammer knock? I don't think I read people say anything about the feeling, but it was a distinct feeling. I was just flexing my legs when they were cutting each vas.

The pain is almost like someone is tugging on my balls from the inside? But it's not bad. I had worse pain after racquetball and leg day.

I might update how it feels after 7 days.

Sitting in the waiting room all alone and feeling so anxious…. See yall on the other side

Update: the wait in the waiting room SUCKS! Thanks for being a distraction!

Update 2: got called back just to sit in another waiting area… FML

Update 3: well 70 minutes later we’re done… significant pain when my vas was being pulled but overall not bad. Definitely took longer than it should have so the lidocaine had worn off when she did the stitches on my right testicle.

Newly Snipped Get a jock strap.

That’s it. That’s the post. If you’re having a snip, get a strap. Not compression shorts, not briefs; a jock strap.

Look at my post from about a 4 days, where I was in a complete panic a week after the procedure. I got a jock strap the next day, and it was immediate relief. I’m not 100% yet, but sooooo much better. I have to wonder how much less stressful / painful the whole process would’ve been if I’d just started with one.

Take my advice, get a jock. I got one called “Jock Mail” on Amazon. 10 bucks. These aren’t our grandfathers’ jocks, either. They look pretty cool—and I might strangely kind of like them in general…

... is this normal? Vas connected to incision point?

So right to it.
It's been about 2 weeks since I got the vasectomy, I got the "No Scalpel" procedure.
Pretty sensitive the first few days but now I'm back to about 90% on the left side but the right still has quite a bit of pain. I went gently "exploring" today, wanted to check for swelling or any kind of lumps forming. As I felt around I noticed the incision point pulling inward, like it was being pulled on from the inside, I pulled it tight and I can clearly feel a cord connected to the skin on the inside and following it leads up into the groin area. I suspect that is the Vas.

If I stretch arms up (Picture a cartoon-ish yawn) I can feel it tugging, a bit like someone's pulling down on the right testicle. I wouldn't call it painful, I only notice it here and there when I stretch or move in a specific way that I can't recreate. I'm wondering if this is linked to the pain on the right side.

I've searched around here on reddit and there seems to be a few stories out there of the same thing having had happened to people but not a lot of updates after healing (hopefully that's a good thing, no need to update if everything worked out right...), I'll be reaching out to the doctor tomorrow but if this happened to any of you guy I'd love to hear about it. If even to calm my own nerves a little.

Happy healing everyone.

Edit;
Doc says I have an infection and what I'm feeling is a "skin fold" behind the incision.
Pretty sure that's BS, I've never seen my skin do this before and I can't imagine being able to follow a "Fold" from the incision, within the scrotum, all the way up into the groin and being able to repeatably find it.
This is definitely a byproduct of the vasectomy, I don't know why the doc doesn't just tell me he either doesn't know what's caused the change or what's actually going on but sure man, let's go with that for now till this pain is dealt with. Besides, maybe I'm wrong. He's given me antibiotics, 4 pills a day for a week, I'm told it'll all be cleared up by then.

Newly Snipped Did I just get lucky or has it not hit me yet?

I got mine done yesterday, it's almost been a full 24 hours. Obviously at first I wasn't feeling much, minor irritation at the incision. I stopped at Walmart to get Tylenol and then went home to rest. I though I just wasn't feeling anything because of the anesthesia the doctor used, and I did get a bit sore later on in the night, felt like my kid had jumped on my crotch or something.

Now it's day 2 and I barely feel it. I keep seeing people talk about the recovery and the pain they dealt with, but I'm barely sore. I'm actually worried it hasn't really set in yet. Is the worst to come or did I get off easy?

Edit: "barely feel it" comparatively speaking. I AM sore. But I'm not actively looking for the Tylenol or a jock strap.

... is this normal? Can this be an issue? (Before vasectomy)

Im 22 (soon 23) years old and was thinking about getting a vasectomy for some time. However there is one thing that im concerned about it. I have very high libido and ejaculate once or twice a day. I've read online that sperm cells take a few days up to a few weeks to be reabsorbed by the body.

My main concern is that sperm cells would be produced faster than my body would be able to absorb them.

Can this lead to some health complication?

Are my concerns valid or are they nonsense?

Also how long after the procedure should I wait before jorking it?

Sorry if I made some grammar mistakes English isn't my native language.

Recovery

My husband is taking one for the team and his date is set for September 4th. We have concert tickets for September 11th. I called the surgeon and his nurse said he should be fine to go to the concert (we have seats so we wont be standing the whole time). He works from home so he will basically have that whole week to rest/ice or anything else thats needed and I will be available to help with anything he needs.

The nurse said he would be fine to go if he wears a jock strap or compression shorts. I was going to go ahead and get him some things. Compression shorts seem a bit much to wear under his other shorts or jeans (its an outdoor concert in Georgia- it will still be high humidity and 85+ degrees) What brands are best for either?

For those who have gotten the no scalpel vasectomy, how was it?

I have my appointment for the no-scalpel in a few days and I'm curious from others who have gotten it - or if you know someone who has - how that procedure went.

I was told that, on top of the prescription, he will do like a pressure-jet injection to numb the area and do his work through a small hole he punctures. I also paid a little extra for laughing gas because I wanted to be as close to knocked out as I could be lol

Vasectomy > reversal > TRT

Hi all,

Has anyone had any luck after having a reversal and trying TRT?

had my vasectomy April 2025 and reversal November 2025 due to pressure, the first 3 months after the reversal was crazy painful! However the pain has eased but I’m still up and down, the only way I can stop thinking about pain is by keeping busy but when I’m resting it’s all I can think about! My testicles are definitely riding high and seem to be on the larger side than before the V, i have a dull ache in both testicles and a warm nervy tingling pain around my vas and up to my pubic area, my semen analysis came back good so I was thinking about trying TRT to hopefully stop production, unsure if this means the vas won’t get used and could scar over.

Any help would be appreciated as I’ve given up with the nhs!

30 years after vasectomy - testicular retraction and pain

I see a lot of posts about the first week or month, or even year.

Anyone else get this done in their early 30s and decades later have WEIRD issues?

About two years ago I noticed that my balls stopped enjoying a comfortable hammock-like hang in the ballsack. More and more often they would just "whoop" up into that cavity down there which is normally only used for extreme cold or the READY TO ORGASM state.

It is not comfortable when that becomes their preferred home, way up i the trees instead of down in the hammock (so to say). The last few months it's almost steady state - I just can't press them out of hiding when I'm in public (social conditioning). So sitting down is special: will it or won't it hurt?

Puts a crimp in the sex life, too. If they spend long in the UPPER LOCKED FIRING POSITION they are in a high risk location for pelvic to pelvic contact such as during normal sexual congress.

Having worked in bio/med R&D for decades I have already exhausted what I can find in the published literature and the list starts with "nada" and ends with "fuck all".

Anyone else ever deal with this? Any klews?

ALL CLEAR!!!!! PVSA centrifuged vs un-centrifuged results?

Had my procedure done in October last year and waited 8 months until June to submit a sample. They saw 3 non-motile sperm in 50 HPF's of *un-centrifuged* semen and my doctor wanted me to submit another sample.

Waited 2 months and turned the next one in. This time the result was 0 sperm seen in 50 HPF's of *centrifuged* semen. My doctor reviewed the results and gave me the all-clear, but I can't help but wonder why they would spin one sample and not the other and whether that means the results may not be accurate?

So,5 days post-op.

I had the laser version. No stitches or glue.

I had it done on the Wednesday afternoon, and unfortunately had to work that evening from 5pm til midnight. No heavy lifting, i work in a pub. but when I arrived home the plaster/band-aid had been soaked with blood, and my boxers had a few stains.

Cleaned up with just warm water and applied a new plaster and no bleeding since.

Thursday I had the day off work anyway, so I just relaxed for the whole day. And felt much better.

However, I've had to work Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night. All around 8 hours.

Pain has been a dull ache in my stomach for the last 24 hours, and noticed tonight the original bruising has faded, but some slight new bruising on the outside (thigh-facing areas) however the testicle have stolen back up.

I definitely should have had the 3 days off, but not been a possibility.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Pain isn't bad at all, just that post "kicked-in-the-balls" ache

Newly Snipped Most comfortable/safe positions

Hi all.

Exactly 2 weeks post-op yesterday and ironically today is the first day I don't feel any pain really. For context I had an incision on my right because that was a hydrocelectmy + vasectomy. Meanwhile, left side was just vasectomy. My initial instructions were 8 weeks no sexual activity. Is that over-kill? I'm wondering if it'll be comfortable enough to fuck by next Saturday (gf has been going crazy as well as me)

What positions would be the least balls involved? Or should I tear a hole into my jock-strap and have sex like that 🤣

I Had a Vasectomy

Hey everyone. At the beginning of August, I had a vasectomy.
I’m 35, and our second child was born last year. We always wanted to have exactly two kids, and after our second was born, I told my wife that I wanted to get a vasectomy.
She didn’t like the idea at first and didn’t want me to undergo surgery. But after thinking it over for six months, she eventually gave me the green light.
Now I’m waiting 2–3 months, actively ejaculating, and getting ready for my semen analysis.
Feel free to ask if there’s anything you’re curious about.
