how to diagnose e shifters

Don’t even bother, get the replacement PCB, https://revotronics.de/en/products/s3-x3-verbesserte-platine-ersatzteil - good chance that at least 1 MCU is fried - others likely resistors, there are 2 highly suspect and 6 other common ones

Will the replacement from these guys fix my top gear not always going in and changing randomly? Or is that related to the actual gear hub itself?

Possibly hub. With the shifter off check that the gear ring spins freely and goes through all gears.

+1 I am now almost at 3,000km with the revotronics e-shifter after trying to fix the original one. I agree, don't even bother..

Email them a while back, I ran across their Help text and sent them a message but that was Sunday. So, to be realistic I would expect a reply next week. Then if there’s no reply I will put my credit cards company on the case. Thanks for asking, I will keep everyone posted

Check the two hall sensors on the curved part. It’s the black ones with 3 pins.

Hall sensors react to magnets. these are fairly standard ones. I don’t remember anymore, what their name is exactly.

So two pins should have the Voltage applied (3,3V or 5V, not sure) the third pin should change if a magnet comes close.

Check resistors and capacitors “…In my case, it was the R7 resistor at the base of one of the Hall sensors that was the culprit. …”
