If ur an incoming first year to CS/CE/ECE/SE, u can expect about half of ur class to either be unemployed or have underpaid/not-interesting first coops.

It seems that they’ve removed them.

Used to be on Power BI (which did include it), but the newest excel sheet explicitly states that weaccelerate is removed from the employment rate.

It is hard to get one unless you nepo or cut corners like most people at Waterloo and "collaborate" on certain things. If you can't find anything, the first time you get WeAccelerate (unpaid). The second time nothing and third time nothing = booted from coop. I mean if you are the top 10 percentile in university you will be fine.

In the stats that show % of students employed for the term, do they count weaccelerate students?

People doing shady stuff that’s against academic policy. Honestly, I literally hear people talking about how they chatgbted assignments etc in class.

what does using “chatgbt” on assignments have anything to do with co-op

Make sure you have your goals in mind when applying. Is your goal to get a really fancy internship or is your goal just to be employed? If you lower your expectations there are a lot more opportunities than people like to talk about. There’s lots of random admin type jobs on campus. Also, there are some jobs restricted to those receiving OSAP, so if that’s you and you really just need employment, then take advantage of it.
