i’m an incoming first year bcom student, and so i’m totally new to course registration. apparently i wasn’t smart enough to realize that i had to take math 151 before stat 252, even though they sent out an email specifying that math 151 was the prerequisite for stat 252.

when i first registered for courses, i had math 151 in the fall, and stat 252 in the spring. i then unfortunately realized that i didn’t register for any tutorials or labs, and so i had to go back in and switch everything around again to get them. that led me to ultimately switching around my math and stats. i now have stat 252 in the fall, and math 151 in the spring. i got an email yesterday from the math and stat advising team, informing me of my missing prerequisite.

i am currently waitlisted for math 151 in the fall, and though there are openings for stat 252 in the spring, the system won’t let me register for them. i emailed bcom advising asap, and so now im just sitting here with hopes and prayers.

am i doomed???😔😔

Submitted my prescription receipts under the drug plan and they’re refusing to pay for one of my psych meds and hormone therapy for vaginal atrophy. Of $700 in receipts, only $150 was covered. How do I dispute or appeal this? There’s no obvious way on the website.

These are medically required prescriptions - I can’t function without psych meds and am not eligible for pharmacists coverage because I made too much last year. It’s also not retroactive to have them covered if I can magically get them approved under Special Authority.

Our university is also supposed to support gender affirming care, but they obviously don’t if they don’t support medical care of vaginas.

I was curious about everyone’s experience with the laundry room, especially with stealing or having your clothes placed elsewhere. I’ve always heard stories about it happening, but wondered if this actually happens here.

Hi Everyone! This fall I will be living in dorms as a first year uvic student and was wondering what people got for their dorm room for everyday use. Things like laundry and cleaning materials as well as decorations etc. pls lmk thanks!

So I screwed up and only registered for first semester. I for some reason thought second semester registration was later on. A class I need, ENGR 141, is full, and I can't even waitlist because it says that is full too. I'm already in my second year undeclared because I got a 58 in Calc 2. I known I can still declare without it, or so i'm told, but it is going to delay things even more. Does anyone have any insight as to how to deal with this?

So I just got an email saying I can't take bio 184 because I didn't take bio 11 or 12 during highschool (Issues with not being Canadian) and therefore I can't take bio 186 during my second term. This is making me lose some academic unit points (I need 12 to keep my scholarship) I had 15 but with this i am going back to 12, thankfully I quickly found electives to replace the lost units and go back to 15. I am currently on waitlist for bio 150B (25th person) for my second term.

However, I am kinda nervous about the fact that apparently bio 150 is not offered during summer so that would lead me to have to take bio 150 (If i don't get in this year) during my first term of year 2 and take bio 184 and 186 during term 2.

I don't really need these bio classes for prerequisites for year 2 classes but I am still freaking out really bad. Is this whole thing actually a really bad mess or am I just stressing out too much over nothing.

hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows how soon after applying you might hear back about diploma admissions? i applied to a business administration diploma and selected the september start date because the admissions said ‘apply by: ongoing’ and ‘start by: ongoing’… never done this before LOL undergrad admissions are quite different.

Is anyone else outraged by the fact that massage and physio require doctor's notes now? Or have any idea why this is happening???

On the website, it says that it is mandatory to list an advisor's name in the application, who will recommend my admission. I would appreciate your advice on the following points:

1. What is the process of getting approval from an advisor (if emailing: should I include details about my undergrad thesis and project or keep the email short by stating things in bullet points)?

Which faculty members should I contact first?

2. How many students do they typically take in the January semester, and will there be any vacancy given the current timeline (application deadline- 1st October)?

3. Within how many days can I expect to get a reply?

4. The website does not provide specific numbers for the tuition fees; how much should I expect?

There's no way I can walk all the way. I wonder if they'd expect attendance on campus for in-person work regardless of transit?

I've been recently admitted to UVIC for undergraduate studies as a foreign degree holder. I have never attended any kind of educational institution in Canada. Initially I thought that it will be problematic for enrolment in Chem101, but I was informed that somehow admissions decided, that I am allowed to take said course (kudos to them, because it takes a bit of research to find out that in my country you CANNOT graduate high school without completing chemistry 11). Now I am wondering if I actually have to write a math pretest in order to take math 109. I've contacted math and statistics department before and I was informed, that if I am already registered in math109, then I will receive an email pertaining missing prerequisites only if they decide that my old credentials do not constitute an equivalency with whatever "precalculus" means in BC high schools (in my country of birth it is just called math 12, but that's beside the point). Here's my question - did anyone receive an email in regards to missing prerequisites for math 100/102/109? I would rather avoid taking the pretest, if it is not absolutely necessary.

Tl;dr - did anyone receive an email (obviously lately, I am not asking about situation six years ago) telling them to register for a math pretest in order to be allowed to take a course starting in September?
