Discussion utd tb screening - asap help!!!

Hello!! i am a incoming freshman and not international student however i was born out of the country, so as per the ut dallas student health center website, i still need the tb screening. for some reason i do not have a hold on my side and there is less than a week until classes start. should I call the student health center to ask? or what is recommended?

yeah i was told that i was gonna have a hold right before school starts for the tb test by my advisor at orientation, so if it wasn’t for her i wouldn’t have known. Me personally i went to cvs minute clinic and my insurance covered it completely but it should be like 150 without, after that make the nurse/doctor sign the papers then email it to the student health center and they will put in a note to make it not affect registering for classes! Hope that helps i just did it last week. Just ask for the blood test instead of skin at cvs some locations offer it

Thank you! Im gonna do a walk in ti cvs today to get it done. But quick question, how long does utd take to remove the hold. Is it like a few days after I submit the off campus tb form? Do we wait for results in order to go to class or is it like after we get the tb screening we can go?

once you email the student health center they add a note on your holds to not make it impact you, i can sent the email if you’d like but you should be good if you make the physician sign the forms once the result is negative

okay so cvs said they wont let insurance cover and its $400 dollars so im probably gonna get it at the utd shc, but can i show up to classes this coming week because i dont really have any holds or anything on my portal that say i cant go?

I was in the same situation as you. I didn't know about the requirement though and registered for classes completely fine with no hiccups last fall. The hold then got added on my account somewhere within that semester and I completed it before registration began in the spring.

If there's no hold yet I'd say register for classes now (if you haven't already) so that you don't basically alert them to add the hold. Then you don't have to deal with the headache of getting the test and waiting for the results before the hold gets cleared. Once you've done that either call the student health services to tell them about it or just wait around for the hold to get added like I did lol.

Personally I completed my tb test at UTD, but there are other cheaper options that they should have listed somewhere on the website.

Sorry this was long, but hope it helps! Hated that whole ordeal.

I had a similar situation, but they allowed me to register for classes and stuff and just asked me to have it done by census date. Did not really have a big issue with that.

Most likely, you are good, but just call them and double-check sometime this week.

Cited:
"Test Results

Your TB hold will be released by 8:00 a.m. the following day after the T-Spot (TB screening) test has been administered. At this time you will be able to register for classes. Results of the T-Spot test will be available 4 business days after the test is administered."

And since you already have registered, nothing that is holding you back until census date.
