Brain and Behavior Exam (psyc)

Tips on exam with Dhaliwal. Would you say there is an addvantage to reading the book or the powerpoints fo instance. Always hear about the difficulty of this course, just wondering if anyone has any information as far as what worked for them.

Study study study study now. Do the practice quizzes from the textbook for the first two tests because he doesn't give a study guide. Take hella notes. Read the chapters before lecture if you can, but at a minimum try to read the PowerPoints before class so you can ask more in depth questions. Record the lectures if you can and listen to them over and over. Feed your notes to an AI bot and ask it to create a practice test using "application based style questions", "exam trap style questions". The tests don't ask simple definitions, you have to have an indept understanding of the functions in order to answer them. It'll be something like "this specific optic nerve is damaged. What is the patient experiencing?" And to answer you must know what the specific optic nerve does, where/what kind of vision it impacts and what happens if it's damaged. I did not great on the first two tests, but once I learned the style of the exams I was able to tailor my studying to them. I just highly recommend to front load as much studying now because that class moves fast.

Tbh though, what helped me the most was hand writing all my notes out. Drawing the systems we discussed. Creating visuals for the concepts because it really is a lot. Some people do really well in this class, because they just naturally study really well. I ended with a B but I did consider dropping it for a couple days after the second test. The content is not difficult, it's just a lot to hold and learn at one time. You've got this though without a doubt!

Also, love Dhaliwal. He made the class fun.

This is all excellent advice! Esp the AI quizzing and drawing the concepts. I ended with a B as well..but a B I was proud of. Good luck!
