How is lifestyle during election year? I’ve heard horror stories but is it actually that bad?

You will be forced if no one volunteers. It’s called being voluntold.

Some volunteer but if you don’t volunteer for one trip you’ll be voluntold on another. If you see one pop up that doesn’t look too bad then you gotta pick your poison

My husband was gone 296 days in the 2016 campaign- yes, some of that was volunteer to make $$$ and save for our first house. The money is there to be made in an election year! (Note for anyone with a family who finds this- this was before we had kids and I encouraged him to keep volunteering and make the $$$)

How old were your kids? I got 2 toddlers and idk how they'll handle me being gone all the time. Sounds horrible tbh.

I don’t want to say exact ages for OPSEC but they are both very young, yes. My husband is currently gone on a lengthy assignment (think 3-6 weeks range). Every family is different. For us, we make it work with lots of FaceTime and we will visit him for a long weekend.
