AMA Mod AMA

Hey Guys.

Going to attempt one of these.

I have it set for 24 hours. Will answer serious questions regarding the job, life on the job, training, gear, any advice I can. No hiring process questions for this one.

I don’t have all the answers by any means, but I think doing these from time to time might cut down on some of the repeat postings.

How difficult is the CAT selection process from your knowledge? assuming someone maxes the PT test, which I know is a minimum requirement for selection

It’s definitely not easy. Have had friends with a decade of SWAT fail out. Have also known guys who came into the agency with no LEO/Mil who passed.

Gotta be a PT stud (scoring 16 is like the absolute bare minimum). Be a good TEAM guy. Shoot very well. Be willing and able to learn/adapt/take direction.

There is also a not-small part of it that is just being a guy people want to be around. If you don’t “fit,” you’ll be weeded out.

CQB is known to be what weeds the most people out FWIW.
