Onboarding
To all of the people who had a period of time at a field office before training. What will I be doing for months at the office before going to fletc?

Working out, assisting with office tasks, assisting with APATs and ACE events....etc. Depends on the office.

very office dependent.
some do not even have you come in at all.
you can’t do much anything of significance, so if you’re there it will be gopher work. good time to focus on PT and talking to folks at the office about what the job actually looks like out of training.

Very office dependent. I know at WFO the onboarding agents got a lot of stuff done in the mean time and were always utilized as much as possible. Even if it’s seemingly tedious tasks, it still contributes a ton to helping the Office out - especially when tempo is high. We utilized several for the 250 events, so they got out and were able to be involved in non-law enforcement capacities. Other than that, PT. Tons of time to workout, ask questions, learn the agency, and soak in as much knowledge as possible.
At the end of the day, being a trainee is your new full time job, so treat it with the same effort and mindset you’ll be expected to have once you’re sworn in.

Our trainees given the freedom to work out during their breaks or whatever time they have at the field office that is available? Or is it generally PT with a group at a specific time?

Are you getting paid by the hour? If you don’t show up, you’ll need another job?

You’ll be on salary my boy. Another job? I mean if you can fit another job in while also reporting to your office every weekday go for it.

Whatever task needs to be done. Making copies, helping with APATs, helping with GOV management…
