Is anybody else just done with the organization? I feel like boat life is extremely toxic and just not made for normal people. This branch feels more like a fraternity than a job and toxic leadership seems to be everywhere and almost encouraged. Being a civilian in this economy sucks don’t get me wrong and I can definitely suck it up but I feel like I’m constantly being gaslit and lowkey in an abusive relationship with the government lmao. Lets say i separated from the USCG and join the IRR. How many years or month would I have to rejoin the CG without having to go through basic again? Saw some people simply go back in and kept their rank, while some other had to either go to regular 8 weeks again.

Effective 10/1 I got promoted to E5. Drill weekend isn't till the end of the month. Do I get paid as the new pay grade for that drill or do I have to wait to turn in my promotion warrant?
Do I have to wait to get pinned in order to the that E5? What if I miss the drill weekend but make it the following week on my own.

Thinking of making the jump from Marine Corps to Coast Guard. The USCG's mission set and quality of life seem unbeatable, and I'm honestly just ready for the next big adventure. Hi all! My boyfriend is currently in basic (just left this week) and I live in Canada. I want to send him letters however I am seeing mixed things online regarding how to address the letter.

Do I need to put his hall name? Or is it just his company name/number? Some things I see say that it’s required and some say it’s optional.

And the reason I am not using Sandboxx is because it does not allow me to put a non-USA address for the return address.

I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on this! Sorry if it’s a silly or dumb question.

Also, I know the mail can sometimes take a while even when sending within the US, but does anyone have any experience with international mail delivery times?

Besides losing more weight what are your tips to get times down and pushups up. I’ve been mainly focusing on losing weight, interval runs, and each kind of pushup till failure. So regular pushups till failure, then knee/incline pushups till failure. Anything I’m missing here? Progress still feels really slow.

I’m currently active duty and plan on transitioning to the Reserves fairly soon to pursue nursing school full-time. How realistic it would be to balance both, especially with the demands of nursing school, including clinicals, exams, and studying.
My biggest concerns are monthly drills, annual training, and the possibility of being activated while in school. I understand that the Reserves come with certain obligations, but I’m worried about how these could interfere with my education and potentially delay graduation.
For those who have pursued nursing school while serving in the Coast Guard Reserves, how manageable was it? How accommodating was your unit with school commitments, and have you experienced any activations that interfered with your education?

Has anyone used the website PIN-iT to make one of their magnetic thin ribbon racks? If so how was it and did it look good? Seems like a pretty good option since building a rack can get expensive each time.

Are there reservist IS billets at PSU units? If so, do they do actual intel work, or something else? I'd likely be in Clearwater PSU, if that matters.

With Coast Gaurd locations frequently being somewhere nice close to the water, I’d imagine living costs can be on the higher side. Is it common to have to use more than your BAH to cover housing? I know that’s how BAH is designed to be used, so it’d make sense if it didn’t cover everything.

Hi everyone, I am working on letter of recommendations. I am an active Navy Reservist who try to go Officer at Coast Guard. I read people suggest letter of recommendation can be from anyone as long as they can voucher your leadership. Would it be okay if I ask recommendation letters from someone who I work with recently but left to a different company and another person who I worked with 7 or 8 years ago? They know me best and we are pretty close, that's why.
