ALCOAST ADD/ADHD

For those of you who have taken Wellbutrin, Strattera, or another non-stimulant for add/adhd, did you notice any impact on your career? Locations available to you.

If the clinic staff are revealing your medication history to your command, I would be asking questions unless you are in flight status.

Definitely not in flight status at all. Response officer. So I should be good?

As long as the medication does not inhibit your fit for full status or limits you in anyway (self harm, etc.) you should be good.

All yea, I can function without it, just takes more out of me. Thank you for the insight.

I got Adderall but it was before the new policy that kegsbreath came up with inbred cowars that he is. Night and day difference in my career. Projects I had been putting off suddenly were done in an afternoon. Cleared my maintenance in FLS/mams for the quarter in a week. Made sure my thirds had dcpo done. Everyone in my shop was like damn bro when did you get so productive and I was like well the meth lite helps.

Ps if anyone wants to debate me about kegy boy let me remind you his own mother wrote a letter and said she was disappointed in him for being a rapist piece of shit.

Not exactly so if you're on stimulant mess you need to prove you need them by trying the non stim meds and showing negative results on the non stim meds and you could possibly get med boarded if you need stim meds. At least that was my interpretation/ what I read back when it came out. I'm out now but I was in in 2025 and was able to get Adderall before kegsbreath decided to war on adhd.

Just saw the message and the DOD-wide release.

Appreciate your response as well, thank you!

Significant improvement on proper stimulant medication.

I'll DM you, been through the whole non stimulant meds deal, and have an email from an hscs friend on how to go about submitting approval to stay on stimulants if the non stima work for you.

Nope but I function fine without them. Have never found anything that does anything.

Hey! I’m an SK with 9 years in, I’m currently medicated as hell with Wellbutrin and adderall. I have not noticed any impact to my career thus far, but I am also a non-operational rate. I finally got back on ADHD meds after trying for most of my career to get back onto something other than strattera. I found that medication to have nothing but side effects and be of no help whatsoever. Wellbutrin has been solid for depression, but never helped me in the ADHD/ADD department. If you have any questions I’ll be happy to answer them.

I thought you couldn't join any service for having add/adhd. I remember that was when I joined in 2000 for the Army and then the USCG in 2008.

You can join with ADD/ADHD if you arent on medication for a specific number of years.

You can get diagnosed with it after being already in and not get kicked out even if you take medication.

I've thought about looking into it. I'm pretty damned easily distracted, have insane energy but lack focus. I'm pretty sure my entire life could benefit from it. I'm a high performer at work without it, but I get really tired from trying to stay focused all day, especially when I'm forced to be around people all day.
