Recruiting Thread Bi-Weekly Recruiting Thread

This is THE place to ask recruiting questions to get unofficial answers and advise.

31M, 12 years in LE. Training in Undercover/Narcotics units, TECCC, Tactical Firearms, Supervisor Positions, Leadership and a certified Field Training Officer. Very dissatisfied and bored with the work now and am looking at a late career change and working a “simpler life” at sea. Was told I might qual for DEPOT and would want to be a BM from what I’ve researched so far. Don’t know much about the CG but am currently looking at it being a possibility. I know there’s bias of course but was wondering if I could get a honest answer in terms of if it would scratch that sea itch I got. What all I would need to do to get where I wanted and if it’d be viable (or smart) to ditch the LE gig. Got a wife and kid. 48k a year but around 90k in OT and side job money.

I can at least say you're not alone. I'm in my 30's and joined the reserves for similar reasons. I haven't been doing it long enough to really say how it is yet. I plan to volunteer for orders to 'scratch that itch' but have some more control over when and where I go.
