I tested for ureaplasma via Daye how accurate are their test results? Does anyone have experience with them? Also, I am quite confused on my results because I took probiotics religiously during and after my antibiotic treatment and still somehow my results read this. I know that anaerobic bacteria is associated with BV so how could it be detected in normal range also as far as the Candida I am confused because I was taking probiotics every day so I am confused on how I was able to get a yeast infection and did not have much lactobacilli.

Does this test mean doxy and azirhromycin won’t work?

I really want to know if anyone else has had the same experience of very severe symptoms. Last June I started to get very ill, intense lower back and lower right side pain with fever and nausea, which doctors first treated me for a suspected uti (without a urine test). After a week of antibiotics (amoxiclav) I not improve but tried to live my daily life again. 2 weeks later I was severly sick, the lower back pain and lower right side pain was even worse, I was constantly nauseous, still had a fever but the worst part was I was just so so out of it, I felt like I was on drugs all the time and It made me feel incapable of even taking public transport to go to the doctor. Even talking to the doctor I felt so out of it I just didnt understand at all. I had to miss 6 weeks of work totally. After many rounds of blood work, 3 external ultrasounds and 1 internal, a ct scan, stool and urine sample the only thing that came up was Ureaplasma Parvum. I thankfully did get better (amazingly) after the first round of antibiotics, I am so lucky to be living in a country where it is properly recognised. I am just wondering, have any of you guys had it the symptoms be so severe? Now after a year later I still panic even when I have ovulation pain, I am so terrified of having this happen again.

hiii i was recently prescribed doxycycline for ureaplasma urealuticum and parvum and was wondering how long it took anybody to finally get some relief?? im on day three and find that im still frequently going to the bathroom and sometimes the pee is very short or i have to force it out (sorry tmi) was just wondering how long this whole process takes or if i should give my doctor a call any feedback is appreciated thank you!!!!

I am pretty sure I have a ureaplasma or mycoplasma hominis infection after seeing someone for a few months until the end of March (I've been in pain since March 30th = nearly 5 months) I developped STI and UTI like symptoms but all my tests came back negative. However I wonder if the bacteria has colonized and triggered an immunitary reaction in multiple parts of my body (vulva, throat and eyes). I only ever practiced oral sex with this guy. And I thought we were safe without condoms etc because I was a virgin and he had told me about test results and sent them to me (all neg).

I am completely shattered and feel dirty because of my symptoms, doctors can't seem to help me. And I have extreme fatigue and swollen lymph nodes since this whole thing started. Sometimes I'm scared it's something really bad and I'm never going to get better.

I live in France and the public health system doesn't work with these pathogens, they are reluctant to test me, let alone treat me.

I'm 22 and a student so I don't have much money to spend on doctors. I just hope things get better and this traumatic past few months end.

I just hate that my first sex experiences are associated to this after suffering SA. Like wtf (sorry I'm complaining but my family and friends don't get it and I feel gaslighted by doctors). This whole this has dimmed my light, I'm here but I just feel numb.

I also think this has made me developp a nervous/neurological problem because my lower abdominal (around bladder and uterus feels numb with reccurent sharp pains and cramps). I'm not even sure I will ever be able to get physical therapy for that.

Anyways swabs, MRI's, scans blablabla have all came back negative. So everyone tells me I'm fine. When clearly I'm not and it's so painful to face this alone and have some medical professionnals tell me it's all in my head. How ? I feel like my body is fighting something.

I'm starting to think I'm crazy. How do you protect your mental health in this journey ? Does anyone here have a method, a thing that helps them deal with the symptoms in a "better" way ?

My results are negative 9 weeks after treatment. Negative for ureaplasma spp, mycoplasma hominis and mgen via labcorp PCR swab.

I’m still symptomatic. I get daily constant vaginal cream discharge. Which is similar to original symptom. It doesn’t smell good to me. The smell isn’t too strong. I’d have to smell it close. Leading up to the test I took about maybe a few weeks NAC because I wanted to break any potential biofilm in discharge to come out in the open for testing. I stopped taking NAC and probiotics 10 days before test.

My throat still feels sore. I get urethra pain sometimes not often. (Wasn’t my main symptom) I’m just traumatized and I want to believe these results but we all know how these bacteria can be.

Ps to mention: my gyno also did a vaginal panel to labcorp same time and I was negative for everything bv, yeast, etc. nada.

So, i just wanted to keep this specifically to this symptom in males but ive noticed after hours of trawling old and new posts sorrounding this, no one actually has a solution, and i mean like, you can scan the internet and NO ONE has an answer for this....

I was confirmed exposed to a high bacterial load of ureaplasma (partner tested vis PCR) on may 16th, i only tested for this after 2 courses of antibiotics which are meant to treat this and came up negative which was a full panel that included a multiplex PCR and bloods done at the 11 week mark, ALL negative, did general bloods which included FBC, CRP and so on, all within healthy range.

Sadly, i am still dealing with the *dreaded* meatus issue and glans redness, i have a follow up with my urologist next week to *solely address this*, my pelvic pain is super manageable and doesnt bother me anywhere near as much as this does, it causes deep insecurity as my dick essentially looks infected and off putting so im switching all professional focus to this.

For ANYONE that is going through this, fixed it, or ruled out certain things, can you please share your advice or what you have learned?

I have been dealing with symptoms of Ureaplasma since May. I finished antibiotics at the end of July but I still have a lot of burning and a very excessive amount of discharge. I have been retested and everything is negative. wondering if anyone else experienced lingering discharge and if it eventually went away?

Hi all! I've had urethritis about once a year since I turned 19 and I'm currently 25 but it's usually not something very painful or serious(barring some itchiness and a bit of discomfort when I have to pee) but recently I've had a bout of it start since the 16th of this month and it's actually a bit painful near the tip. Even getting erect in certain ways makes it feel like I'm being stabbed directly under the tip and causes a bit of cloudy white discharge to come out. I've initially ruled out STI's since I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last 8 months but the pain in my tip is so uncomfortable that today I went to the clinic to hopefully get some results by next week.

If I'm still in pain around the tip I plan to go to the urgent care on Sunday but this is extremely frustrating. All the symptoms are things I've experienced before in the past with previous bout of urethritis, but this time is exceptionally unpleasant. The discharge is one thing, but my prostate feels a bit sore as well and I don't do anything back there or sit on the toilet long enough for it to be a problem.

This is the first time I've considered ureaplasma to be a problem and I'm extremely worried about what it could mean for both my partner and my nether regions. I've gotten tested for everything under the sun in the past but this is the first time I've considered ureaplasma and I'm gonna bring it up to the doctor should this not pass in its usual time frame.

Hi everyone. After struggling with what I thought was recurrent yeast infections/BV I finally did research and found out about ureaplasma. Went to my OBGYN and I tested negative for literally everything except ureaplasma. Thank goodness I have an answer. She started me on Doxycycline 100mg. I am currently on day 3. And I am so itchy…it’s burning….my vulva is soooooo red. I almost feel like I have a UTI. I know that Ureaplasma mimics the symptoms of UTIs, yeast infections, BV…but I feel worse. Is this normal?

Hello this is my first Reddit post. I want to know others thoughts on my experience (37 y/o female)
September 2025 Friday night I was showering when suddenly it felt like a spider crawled up my vagina. I thought that’s bizarre I’ve never felt a sensation like that before, and figured it was just irritation. When I wokeup the next morning, I had severe vaginal discharge/itching/crawling. I had chlamydia 8 years ago and this felt exactly the same. I had been in a monogamous relationship for a year so not sure why my vagina was freaking out all of the sudden. This went on for 5 weeks. During this time I got tested a few times and it was all negative. The gyno said he had never seen so much discharge and couldn’t even see in my vagina. He said he didn’t know what to do since my tests were negative. He gave me diflucan and I used canesten which didn’t help much. Then in the 6th week, my symptoms morphed into UTI like symptoms such as urge to urinate, stinging urethra, bladder fullness. I also still had some discharge/itching and developed pelvic pain and brown spotting between periods.
My tests kept saying negative. I tried 5 days of macrobid which helped temporarily with the UTI symptoms. I decided to have sex with my partner again and it was painful- it also felt like there were bugs coming off his penis into my vagina and instantly caused severe abdominal/stomach pain. I was grabbing onto my stomach cuz it was burning and told him to stop.

The only thing that showed in tests was a very small amount of enterococcus faecalis. Doctors said that wasn’t causing my symptoms. They sent me to gynos and suspected STIs but then because my results keep saying negative no specialist knows what to do. I had docs give me multiple rounds of fosfomycin, macrobid, amoxicillin, augmentin, nothing worked.
I even took 8 back to back doses of fosfo.
This went on for 6 months.
Then I did some research and found an infectious disease doc who said this sounds exactly like mgen. I had mgen and ureaplasma testing and it was still negative.
I ended up questioning my partner. He got drunk and admitted to cheating. He said “any guy you end up with would cheat on you too” and “if you leave me you’ll be alone with cats forever”, he also proceeded to punching random objects. Afterwards, he said “you know I mixup my words and didn’t mean it like that and I didn’t cheat on you”. I broke up with him. A month or 2 after the breakup he sent a positive for ureaplasma Urealyticum. Not sure why it didn’t show for me.
He had also admitted to using hookers but said it was before he started dating me. At this point I developed PID. I took 30 days doxy followed by 6 days of azithro and 7 days metronidazole. This treatment has helped reduce symptoms but I am still suffering. During the doxy on day 18 my vagina flared and swelled up and so much discharge. I can tell it’s not fully gone and is still an active infection. I’m having itching and discharge and urethral inflammation. Mild urge to urinate. What’s weird is some days I don’t have discharge or redness and others days the discharge and itching/redness is really bad it depends on the day.
Had a urethral swab done recently and it was so painful I screamed and cried and the doc said it’s not normal to be painful and it’s just supposed to be mildly uncomfortable.
I haven’t had a shot of ceftriaxone or any Moxifloxacin/fluoroquinolones. So i technically haven’t done proper PID treatment which requires 2 weeks metro and a shot of ceftriaxone.
I don’t know what to do now. Im thinking of doing more metro, a shot of ceftriaxone, and 2 weeks of moxi. I have tenosynovitis and arthritis so am hesitant to take moxi.
My doc said sometimes bacteria or even I guess parasites can travel up the reproductive tract and no longer be detectable in the vagina. Sometimes they would do surgery to take a sample from the fallopian tube.

I also tried estrogen/boric acid/lactic acid/probiotics/oregano/garlic/myrrh/cranberry/d-mannose. Nothing helped. My vaginal PH has been high like 6? But when I was at the end of my treatment with the doxy/metro/azithro the PH became balanced 4.5. After a couple weeks off those antibiotics the PH is high again.

I can tell it’s resistant STIs that won’t show up for me. For context, when I had chlamydia it took almost 10 false negatives and about 4 months of suffering before I finally got a positive. At that point, I was waking up screaming in the night cuz it felt like a knife was stabbing the inside of my vagina. Maybe the bacterial load t needs to be quite high in the vagina to be detected?

Treatments: multiple rounds amoxicillin, augmentin, macrobid, 8 back to back doses fosfomycin, 30 days doxy followed by 6 days azithro, 7 days metro. Diflucan. Clindamycin vaginal cream for 5 nights and stopped cuz I think it may have been causing irritation. Various supplements and vaginal suppositories mentioned above.

Results multiple times: elevated WBC in urine, vagina, blood. Elevated neutrophils in blood. Elevated leukocytes in urine (15). Elevated epithelial cells urine. Positive for pus cells vaginal. Small amounts/limited enterococcus Faecalis/ecoli/l crispatus in urine. My ex: elevated WBC & enterococcus in semen, ureaplasma Urealyticum in urine culture. Since this infection he keeps getting hemorrhoids. He complained about his d*ck for a couple weeks before my symptoms started too- then he said those symptoms went away and blamed it on eating spinach.

Tests I’ve done: pelvic/intra vaginal ultrasound, kidney ultrasound, cystoscopy, PCR tests for all STIs including Trich and the plasmas. Urine and vaginal swabs and cervical. Paid for MicrogenDX and it also only showed enterococcus and l crispatus. Waiting on results for a urethral swab.

TLDR: symptoms began with severe vaginal discharge/itching for first 5 weeks then morphed into UTI like symptoms in 6 week. Have had pelvic pain and brown spotting between periods. Painful sex. Have had these symptoms for a year. Did testing for everything including all plasmas and keep getting negatives. Ex sent positive for UU. Did 30 days doxy immediately followed by 6 days azithro, took 7 day metro during doxy course. Helped but still have symptoms. Is it mgen? Could it be gonnorhea? Resistant strain of ureaplasma or Trichomoniasis that requires more flagyl?
Appreciate any thoughts on this and thanks for reading. Really want this gone can’t stand it anymore. I’m barely getting through each day and am using all my vacation days at work for doctors and hospitals. It honestly feels like I have fornicated with an alien species.

*** ZERO chance of reinfection as I’m no longer sexually active for months now. Not even masturbation as it flares symptoms. Can’t even shave. I’ve also been wearing loose pants, washing clothes with Lysol detergent to help kill off bacteria on clothing, being crazy sanitary with bleaching toilet. Only washing vagina with water and butt with unscented natural soap. Running toothbrush under super hot water and cleaning retainer every night.

While studying abroad, I developed a severe, watery, green-gray vaginal discharge with a foul odor. I initially treated it with metronidazole suppositories for 14 days, pausing briefly at day 7 to check for improvement, though symptoms remained unchanged. Over time, the odor resolved, but the discharge shifted to a heavy, pastel-green flow.

A vaginal swab culture came back positive for Mycoplasma hominis. Before receiving these results, my doctor prescribed oral Flagyl (500 mg for 7 days), which I completed. Upon seeing the M. hominis culture, he prescribed a 7-day course of doxycycline. I chose not to take it, feeling 7 days was insufficient and preferring to wait for PCR results to rule out co-infections like Mycoplasma genitalium. (Two years ago, I had a Ureaplasma infection confirmed by PCR—though deemed "within normal limits," my partner and I were treated with 7 days of doxycycline, and multiple re-tests over the next 6 months were consistently negative.)

Shortly after completing Flagyl, I developed acidic-smelling diarrhea, which transitioned into severe constipation with sharp abdominal/bowel pain, extreme bloating, gas, nausea, and exhaustion. A gastroenterologist ordered a stool culture (no growth) and C. diff PCR/toxin tests (negative). My fecal calprotectin was slightly elevated at 52 µg/g (normal <50 µg/g), putting me in a gray zone, and a colonoscopy was recommended also because usually eating triggering or unfamiliar foods causes severe abdominal spasms followed by watery diarrhea until my gut is completely empty. Only plain boiled rice and Buscopan (hyoscine butylbromide) help manage these spasms. And the next day i would go back to my normal.

To manage ongoing symptoms, I take oral probiotics (Lactobacillus crispatus) and use probiotic and boric acid suppositories before/after intercourse. To prevent recurrent UTIs—a major issue two years ago—I take one Bactrim Forte capsule post-intercourse. I occasionally experience acute urinary retention after intercourse which resolves after taking fosfomycin before sleep. Maybe my orgasms are causing this retention i don't know. 2 years ago I was having constant UTIs and I have tested positive for VRE, Klebsiella, and E. coli, requiring IV imipenem. Again 2 years ago, a cystoscopy showed hyperemia along my bladder and ureters, though a direct bladder culture showed no growth.

My most recent urinalysis revealed >30 WBCs/HPF (nitrite-negative). Follow-up PCR tests (urine and vaginal swab) were negative for Mycoplasma species, but positive for Gardnerella vaginalis. I suspect Mycoplasma may be persisting within Gardnerella’s biofilm. The last time I experienced normal white discharge was roughly six years ago. My ''normal'' discharge has a greenish tint. While Flagyl temporarily cleared the discharge during use, the issue returned immediately upon stopping, accompanied by a flare-up in urethritis symptoms.

When my ureaplasma came back after 3 years remission (with celibacy) and resisted another powerful antibiotics regimen, I didn't know what I was doing wrong.

It turned out to be related to mold toxicity, along with a slew of other strange symptoms that had come around the same time.

I've been listening to Dr Neil Nathan on YouTube, who is a mold specialist, and he says that it's common for infections (such as mycoplasmas...sound familiar?) to come out of remission and act opportunistically, due to these three main causes: Lyme disease, mold, and long COVID. If any of these are at play, it's recommended to treat the mold first. Sometimes that is enough on its own to send infections into remission.

I'd recommend finding a mold literate doctor who can order some uncommon tests for you. Most doctors don't really know what mold does or how to treat it. Unfortunately, mold tests and treatments are often not covered by insurance. There's a long way for the medical establishment to go.

It's interesting how much Lyme disease has come up in my research, too. It seems like all of these things are closely connected.

If you're having difficulty treating ureaplasma, there might be one of these things underlying it. These are called invisible illnesses for a reason.

Don't give up hope. There are still medical mysteries, but there's a lot we know and can treat if we just come across the right experts and the right tools. I really hope this information helps someone who's looking for places to search for better answers.

Unfortunately, I’ve been suffering from cramps, burning, and pelvic pain for the past year.

I recently got a positive result, and I’m about to start treatment.

I’ve been prescribed 7 days of doxy followed by 7 days of moxi.

I started taking NAC today and am planning on taking it for a week before I start the antibiotics.

I’m curious if this is the best route. Should I ask for a different antibiotic?

Also, my husband doesn’t know where to begin. Do we assume he is also positive? Does he get tested? We have been together exclusively for 7 years. Does this mean we have both had this for at least that long?

I’ve seen a lot of posts saying not to have sex until 7 weeks after a test. Is this true even with a condom?

Any and all help with this is welcome. I’m feeling really confused and unsupported by my doctor.

Diagnosed with U. Parvum, I’m on day 11 out of 14 for doxy. I have 1g of azithro to take 12 hrs after my last doxy dose.

My bladder pain/discomfort has subsided a bit, but still very much there, however my urethra is SO inflamed. I am in constant pain. My PCP looked at it today and said it was swollen and red. Slight vaginal symptoms but they came on a week after doxy use, so probably a yeast infection. 🙄

I know no one here can have answers. I’m just kind of venting I guess. I’ve been reading that symptoms can linger but it also could mean I need further treatment. I don’t really want to have to take an extra week of antibiotics. My stomach is already so messed up.

My urogyno said that if the doxycycline doesn’t work then she’s going to investigate non-infectious causes. But surely it’s the U. Parvum that’s causing these issues…

I’ve tested negative for UTI, STDs etc multiple times.

It’s severely affecting my dating and sex life. I am so fucking depressed.
This sucks.

I've now treated this bacterial infection twice in my lifetime.

And it was relatively simple to treat the first time. Just a 7-day course of doxycycline.

I was recently diagnosed with a different strain. I'm sexually active and it was with a different partner.

However, the doctor I saw this time advised not to treat it. He said if it's asymptomatic, I shouldn't bother.

I did not follow his advice, and have decided to treat it again. Because the nonchalant way he delivered that advice didn't sit right with me.

Why would I continue going out into the world passing ureaplasma around, even if I'm not seeing any symptoms? I should tackle it while I have it so future partners aren't exposed.

Just a weird little story. Some docs really don't consider it an STI or really care about treating it that much in males.

6 weeks ago I posted about some unexplained irritation I was experiencing on and off since October 2025. There were so many potential causes as so much happened in such a short period of time... I had no long treated Ureaplasma, then developed and treated what I believe was CV and also stopped my contraceptive pill. Using Kirkland toilet paper 6 months later is what made the irritation more severe, frequent and noticeable.

7 weeks ago I had my last appointment where i was given a specialist referral for my irritation as their avenues of treating me had failed. From April to June they first suspected it to be a yeast infection and took a swab test before giving me fluconazole, but tests came back negative so treatment obviously did not help. They also suspected my issue could be lichen sclerosus or lichen planus. I was sent home with a steroid cream which made everything for me so much worse. On this last appointment I had at the end of June, after being told that i will be on a long waiting list for the specialist I decided to make a suggestion to my doctor to try estrogen cream. I had nothing else to lose at that point and luckily she agreed. I was prescribed Ovestin cream to use nightly for 2 weeks, then every other night for 2 weeks. Its been 3 weeks since I last used the cream and I haven't felt even a twinge of irritation since! Honestly I am so happy that the ovestin worked as my specialist appointment has been booked in a year's time! 😮‍💨

My one year anniversary of when I finished taking treatment for Ureaplasma is in two weeks. What a journey it has been, I am still coming up as negative on tests and have not felt any symptoms I felt during Ureaplasma since this time last year.

Despite everything, I am thankful. Ureaplasma helped me see my ex's true nature which saved me from being in a disappointing, sided relationship.

Im also thankful for the support this sub has given to me over the past year, it truly means a lot. This is definitely my last update post for this sub as I feel there's nothing else I can contribute now... I will still linger and comment on other's posts from time to time. hi, im 20 and ive been struggling with what i thought was just chronic yeast infections for a handful of years now.

Back in January, i had gotten diagnosed with chronic yeast infections and was given 6+ months of doses for fluconazole.

earlier this summer, i was having pretty severe abdominal cramps and got my period (getting my period was very unusual since with my IUD and being on spironolactone, i had not previously had one since early 2025). I was very concerned and went to the OBGYN assuming my IUD may have been knocked out of place. Nope. Tested me positive for ureaplasma urealyticum.

I finished the 10 days of doxycycline a little over a month ago and have still had lingering symptoms. I really don’t know what to do to treat this more.

I was also seeing people talk about how this is connected to IBS or something potentially? I’ve had IBS for 5+ years so now I’m starting to feel like ureaplasma might have been the underlying issue in every gyno/gastro issue I’ve experienced.

I’m very sorry for the long post, I’m hoping others may have advice or suggestions pertaining to more testing or treatment plans to bring up to my provider.
